Note: iGo Electric has now released a new version - the 3.1. The main differences are: hydraulic brakes now, reflectors on the tires, the battery is slightly less 576Wh, the front fender has screw mount (not clamps) (of course, the Canadian version has always been 500W motor, max 32km/h). Weighs 67.7lbs/30.7kg. Based on prior complaints I've seen elsewhere, they've also upped their game on packaging - no scratches on delivery.

updated comment , I would recomend that the consumers go somewhere else to buy their bicycle , maybe from a more reputable company like rad rover or aventon because Igo have controller issues , my 2020 Elite 2 has issues with controller because regardless of what I do the front and rear lights stay on . Igo has an excuse for not covering the controller under warranty because I bought the bicycle used with 185 kms on the clock. secondly my Igo extreme 3.0 ( which I bought brand new ) has issues with throttle or pedal assist cutting off and check engine light flashes on the display as well , but it happens so rarely , I probably won't even have a case against it. Guys please do yourself a favour and buy something more reliable for your hard earned money , take my example as a lesson.

@@tonym6633 No I am not mad , I am disapointed that Igo won't cover a speed controller that's defective on a bicycle that only had 185 kms on it . I always watch your videos and you're the reason I got this bike , but there are few things I'll like to point out . I actually sold my perfectly sound 2016 voltbike yukon to comeup with $2300 canadian asking price of this bicycle. . For the 40 odd kms I have on the bicycle I have come to a conclusion that I shouldn't have sold my voltbike yukon for this bicycle because at this price point I expect hydraulic disc brakes , the battery is rather smallish , the display panel is outdated ( feels like its from early 2000's ) it lacks very basic information like battery voltage and how many watts you're using . All in all there are better bikes out there for less $$. Now for the pros those tires are huge , the internal routing of almost every cable is another plus , the battery is completely conceded inside the frame and the controller is nicely tucked away beside the bottom bracket . I think we are paying for design rather than the quality of the bike.

Ok so I watched this review and after 5 weekends looking at it at Costco I jumped at the chance and bought it. Simply a dream to ride in the snow in Montréal. Trying to do my routine running path of about 6km but with the bike in snow. Did not use electric for the full path as a test and honestly it is doable despite the weight. I also tested all 9 levels of electric help and it is quite remarkable. I don’t plan to use it most of the time but in a headwind coming back from a long ride I will not hesitate. Great known parts as well make this bike serviceable by anyone. The brakes are fantastic, the shifter is a dream. Super stable bike. Will buy an additional front light for trail riding. Don’t hesitate!!!

Hi Marty! These are called Oakley Jawbone, which I got 10 years ago and they don't sell anymore. You could open the "jaw" and swap lenses! I ride with clear vented a lot... So the good news is that Oakley sold the same frame with a new name called "Racing Jackets" and they can still be found on eBay sometimes. Just do a Google search and you'll see what I mean ;)

@@sozo_jamma1593 Cool thanks. I've never ridden fat tires. I tried studs which do exactly nothing in snow :)
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 3 жыл бұрын
I think some of it has to do with the condition of the snow. I’ve seen metal studded fat bicycle tires for icy crusty sections, this day was soft but packed, powder can be difficult if too deep. Surface area is great but the knobs and tread pattern really make a difference in sand, snow, and loamy conditions... otherwise the tire cuts down and you lose steering and get stuck in ruts very easily. This 4.5” tire with wide but deep knobs was perfect :)

It seems that resale value falls the more components like batteries or controllers or displays are customized. Trying to get a lock on replacement component sales hasn’t worked well with a bunch of failed e-bike companies. The mid-motor frame means this company will have one frame for quantity price savings. That’s smart. Hopefully they haven’t specialized the controller too much.

I really wish that the hub motor bikes utilized regenerative braking, that really is the main benefit of a hub motor and no one seems to be exploiting it. You'd get 10-25% more range and save wear on the brakes.
@e-portfix
@e-portfix 3 жыл бұрын
Regen braking will realistically add only about 5% to the range, and the braking is pretty aggressive when you are using it. EBikes just don’t have quite enough kinetic energy to make it worthwhile.

Yeah, I thought that at first too. They custom designed the frame to put the controller and all connectors there. If you look at most competing ebikes, they have wires protruding from the bottom bracket. This one keeps the sensitive bits cleaner and also makes it easy to swap parts and plug in at one location. The aesthetic is... interesting, but the utility is definitely there :)

I have used mine in +30c to -44C in Canada. Battery is NOT great. I can get approximately 25km of travel at top level. They rate batteries for lowest assist level and you may get 35km out of them. Check out a video by CitizenCycle and type into the search bar "Inproved ride quality - Tannus Armour. This is a vid made by an end user rather than a reviewer and deals with tyre inserts. The video is sensational. If you like comfort , as do I, this'll be for you

@@roberthamilton1301 depends on what type of riding you do, i commute and often use my bike as a car replacement, no mountain biking so for me FS is a no go, i dont want that give while im pedaling and i often carry far to much baggage for a FS rack, plus i need full fenders so a hard tail+thudbuster is really my only option.

@@elevenAD That's ok for what you want, But the video is about off road fat bike not a comuter bike, Why would you think I was talking about a bike to replace a car? So my opinion still stands, Hard tail is to uncomfortable...

The diameter is not 26". They call them 26" only because the rim diameter is on the same standard as the old (but still in use) 26" mtb standard. The rim diameter itself is about 22" (559mm) and the wheel diameter (rim+tire) is about 31". Thus the confusion. 26" comes from the wheel diameter (rim+tire) you'd get on a typical 26"x2.00" mtb wheel.

Thanks for the clarification. Rims and wheels is a tricky topic with all of the different standards and international variation. I'm usually reporting the tire stamp, so that's the 26" x 4.5" you here in this case.

dude, you talk too much. im not being a hater, I'm just saying that otherwise a great video that everyone would want to watch, is a bit too long. just my own 5 cents

Thanks, I talk a lot and quickly to cover each bike in depth. I realize the videos are long, so I put time stamps in the description too :)

It is amateurish to film with one hand and steer with another. I'd expect you to film with a GoPro and provide a tangible impression of the handling on those 4.5s. You flunk this one. Second qualm I have is you dont seem to understand lumens and lighting. Though this is not a bike light review, stating that the light is "kind of like okay" is gibberish. You should be far more competent here. We expect a bit better off of a reviewer. A third boo-boo is as regards loading the bike advising to remove the battery which weighs 7 pounds (like a laptop). You then advise to go ahead and remove other parts. I'd hardly see myself spending ages disassembling my e-bike to be able to pop it onto a loadbed when my aim is to just do it and - more importantly - get going!! That advice was a bit daft. Other than that, it's a decent review.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. My GoPro has had some issues with low lighting (the image bounces around when stabilized) so I was using a new mount with my iPhone that doesn't have the same attachment adapters. I was also trying to be extra careful with COVID. Yeah, some of my feedback is sloppy... I try to cover a lot, present even more data at the website, and keep these a bit informal so my budget doesn't increase and turn me into an advertiser sellout. It sounds like you found some of it useful, I do appreciate your help identifying how it could become better :)

No, it's not "amateurish" - it's part of his method where he shows us relative motor noise under load, overall frame stability, acceleration, stopping, climbing ability, handling, and general performance. Your "expectations", "judgements" and "qualms" are hilarious. You have one subscriber. He has over 170,000 from around the world, and a reputation as a fair and thorough reviewer of electric bikes.
