The Bosch Active is so dope. Feels natural, but provides a ton of power and it increases your range so much. I'd highly recommend a bike with this motor to people who don't need a ton of assistance. The Performance Line on bikes like the Gazelle are great options as well if you're looking to increase your range

Thanks foe the great review. One small quibble. Many of us who are switching to Ebikes are doing so for help going up hills. You touched on it a bit but I think all your reviews should have a section riding up hills so we can see how it performs. It’s great to get the rundown on all the features but how am Ebike handles hills is the key factor.
@pedalingpete6263 жыл бұрын
Had the 2021 for a month now. Great bike overall. Minuses-some vibration in the higher gears. Might be a loose chain. Go to 26:50 and watch the chain bounce. Touch points. Grips and saddle are very comfortable. The pedals are garbage. They accentuate the vibration, have a tiny surface area, and are too close together. Replace as soon as you can with bigger platforms, and add pedal extensions in order to move the pedals away from the motor and frame. My personal power increased dramatically. Those pedals are almost welded to the cranks with red locktite. Remove the cranks from the motor before you attempt to remove the pedals so as not to damage the motor. It will take a hefty wrench, and lot of banging with a hammer. Don't bother trying the allen wrench slot. The front light is far too weak to use at night, and is positioned poorly. So low, most of the light hits the fender, not the road. Find an alternative.
@scotteger62713 жыл бұрын
Interesting thing about thread locker…if you apply heat it helps greatly. Setup a blow dryer and don’t go crazy but blow warm air in the area you’re trying to loosen…it will re-liquify the dried loctite…no hammering or heavy torque needed. I learned this years ago with delicate pocket knife pivot screws.
@rzu71204 жыл бұрын
A few years ago, I was riding an inexpensive Schwinn bike without any suspension. I hit a pothole and broke a bone in my hand. I now try to only ride bikes with a suspension fork, or really loosen my grip on the handlebars when riding over rough pavement, so my hands don’t take all of the shock. Great review, by the way!

Yeah, I really appreciate suspension and am reminded of the time my uncle hit a deep pothole (that was disguised by water) and fell off of his ebike. He actually broke his arm... I think he was riding the Stromer ST1 Limited at high speed, and it doesn't have suspension either :O

This is a great bike (I have it). It's smooth and sturdy, like all Trek bikes. The one really big downside that I see they still haven't addressed is the terrible wiring job for the front headlight (you can see it at 7:00 easily in your video). Mine came from the factory just wrapped in electrical tape and was sketchy. I re-did it all with heat-shrink tubing but it looks like they still haven't come up with a professional solution. On a bike worth several thousand dollars that's inexcusable.

People say it's underpowered are funny. Sure it's underpowered if you want to go 20mph all the time up a steep hill with 100% assistance. But with this bike I can go up a VERY VERY steep hill in first or second gear at 5-7 mph and barely need any pedal pressure, it just goes. You just need to slow down a bit, just like you would on a regular non-ebike. This bike will have you going 15-18 mph most of the time anyways with minimal pedalling.

Nice!!!!! My wife and I went to the Trek Store to buy her a mountain bike last week - she ended up getting the Rosco 8. The Trek employees are great, lots of info and the ability to bring it in to be serviced is a big plus for us. She wanted to add some lights, and a few other things and they took care of all that right then and there. She asked me if I wanted to try an E Bike and I wasn't interested but thought about getting my son one - he is in college. My wife test drove the Dual Sport +2 and liked it. We were thinking about it and the next day I went to the store to look at it for me, as she really wanted me to get one. I have bad knees and was afraid it would be too hard on my old body (Boomer Gen). I looked at your review among others as the Trek Store had these on sale - I'm sure because the newer model is out. I rode it and was shocked at how the assist from the motor made it possible for me to ride. They sold me the bike for 100 bucks less than the Dual Sport +2...so I had my wife come and look...she liked it too, so we bought her one as well. We are still going to get my son the Dual Sport +2 version when the semester begins. Your review was terrific - easy to understand (to someone who isn't familiar with bikes). Hopefully Trek is sponsoring you.

I'm still disappointed with the poor lighting on all e bikes my 2019 sduro trekking 7.0 has a sky beamer 100 lumens and its really not good enough. I have fitted two niterider 850s (mini) and whilst the 3rd power setting is overkill having two along with the sky beamer on medium setting means I'm seen as well as me being able to see. Not everyone rides in cities and the fact that my bike is a semi off road bike it's utterly useless for trail riding. These manufacturers need to start fitting decent lighting along with a daytime running function as these bikes aren't cheap. Cheers

In turbo mode intered the bank parking lot with a decline in the pavement, then turning left to a incline to the bank tellers. Once I turned left, the only thing I can think of my front tire hydroplaned. I went down in slow motion, needless to say this 65 year old body of mine didn't like that. Results were a Broken Left Knee, & a Broken Left Ankle. So basically I think these TIRES SUCK .

Wanna create the most amazing ebike ? Find a good/decent used bike with at least front suspension. Get a 500Watt hub motor kit. Use all 3 front sprokets together with 6 or 9 rear cassete/freewheel sprockets. Mid drive is only good for mtb's. City/commute ebikes should have rear hub, or 250watt front hub. Personally I don't need an eBike 😂 But this is almost good, it should had ay least front suspension.

@ElectricBikeReview21 күн бұрын
Mike here, fortunately with Trek, you can opt to have the bike picked up fully assembled at a local store, or you can have it delivered with only a very small amount of assembly, specifically Trek says this about the delivery process: How easy will it be to build? We’ve worked to make final assembly as quick and simple as possible. Everything will be pre-tuned and adjusted, so you'll just need to follow our video or written instructions to install the front wheel, handlebars, and pedals. Every tool you’ll need comes in the box, including a pedal wrench, a torque key, and a shock pump for bikes with air shocks. You’ll just need a floor pump to inflate your tires!
