I love Raymond Carver's stories. He wrote about hardworking blue collar people that I can relate to.

This is my favorite episode of New Yorker Fiction. David Means kills this story. Breaks my heart every time. "They love you' "No they don't." Oh man that's very sad to me...

I wasn't surprised to hear Stephen King say that Raymond Carver was a huge influence.

I read an interview with Dave Sedaris once where he said Carver was a huge influence on him cause he made writing seem easy. Surprise not surprise.

I'm from Fresno, which is a very small town in the central part of California (hence, Central Valley), so it's nice when Central Valley authors, like Philip Levine, are mentioned. Also cool how Carver himself name drops the Central Valley in this story :)
