Are your calculations more for journeyman exams calculations or master electrician exams?

We don't teach the BS over is something journeyman or master. It's all code and calculations are calculations. We teach the NEC....learn it and to won't matter what level of licensure you are seeking.

@@MasterTheNEC 36:30 Shouldn't it be a number 6 since you would use 80% of the amps supplied? Being 40 amps. A 8 would only supply 32.

The question is about Voltage Drop. Why would you assume a circuit can only be loaded to 80% of the circuits value unless it was conveyed as a continuous load? Again the analysis was about voltage drop as it related to the question that was presented. Now, I am assuming you mean as stated in 210.23(A)(1) but that is for 15 and 20 ampere rated branch circuits. If I do not have a continuous load and above the values stipulated in 210.21 then I am not limited to that 80%. In fact, this is an individual branch circuit to the dryer in question then review 210.22 as the load does not exceed the branch circuits rating.

What table to use if your ampere is 1200A.

Not sure what you are asking.

what about for 3 phase A 3 phase 18 KVA, 208 volts load is connected to panel board with 100 ft length of 2AWG THHN copper conductor. What is the approximate voltage drop in the conductor?????
@MasterTheNEC4 жыл бұрын
The formula is technically the same. You just use 1.732 instead of 2 for 3-Phase applications. If your load is 18000/360 = 50 amps just plug it into the equation and again use 1.732 instead of 2.

@@MasterTheNEC what is the circular mils to be used for 1200A

Voltage drop is not an NEC code? You said its just a recomendation.
@MasterTheNEC4 жыл бұрын
I said it is a requirement for Fire Pumps in 695 and Sensitive Electronic Equipment in 647. Everywhere else in the NEC it falls under an Informational Note...and Informational Notes are not a requirement.
