Important to know about resistance, taking resistors away in parallel from 16:00

6:42 why can't I just use P=V²/R(10ohm) for 8.2.2? we have the voltage and the resistance
@5_h_a_n_e4 ай бұрын
I dont understand why we say current moves from the positive terminal to the rest of the circuit yet in 8.2.2 we used the resistance that is on the negative terminal , how does current reach 4ohms before it 8 and 10 ohms cause that's the direction the flow of charge moves ?

why are the 12 ohm and 4 ohm resistor in series?

Hi sir how do we know which power formulae to use
@kevinmathscience2 жыл бұрын
You can use any of them actually :)

Hi kevin,i have a question based on que 8.2.2 So the way i did is the following. I calculated the V through the parallel connection & i got (1.07×7,2 = 7,70V). Since V is the same in a parallel connection, i used it to calculate the current through the 10 ohm resistor then i got 0,77A. Therefore power is 5.93W. So am i wrong?

Why does the voltage split in series but not parallel?
@22ka Жыл бұрын
in a series circuit - current remains the same and voltage divides in a parallel circuit- current divides and voltage stays the same it's just the rule

9:44 why can't I use I=V/R=12/12 to find the current in the 12 ohm resistor?
@KgalabiMoabelo18 күн бұрын
8.2.3 i used the power is equal to current squared times the total resistance FORMULA and got a slightly different result at the end which was 384,69 J. would my answer be considered incorrect??? PLEASE ANSWER, FINALS HAVE ARRIVED!!

Afternoon Kevin Sir am getting a different answer in 8.22 when using p=v²/r can you pls explain

Kevin is it okay if you use a different formula which is Rp = produce ÷sum will you still get the same answer

why cant we use the total resistance and voltage for 8.2.3??:( this is so confusing

If I may ask, which between conventional and electric current do we use in gr 12...??
@kevinmathscience2 жыл бұрын
We use conventional :) So electricity flows positive to negative :)

Sorry sir why won't we consider 12ohm resistor branch and 4ohm branch parallel
@kevinmathscience2 жыл бұрын
Follow the path out of the battery,. From that you will see that it begins by going right and up and then makes a split: Some current goes 12 ohm branch, some goes top branch. Then it all joins again on the other side. Then ALL the current flows through the 4 ohm. So the 4 ohm is part of MAIN circuit.
