9:34 The reason why it a shock you is because it's static electricity, Lightnings work off a thing called electrons and when you throw out the lures the braid rubbing against the metal reel produce static electricity which then release electrons.....That's why you feel like it a shock you

The salt water conducts the electricity and it moves up the wet braid. And because you have a metal reel it will charge it

The graphite in the rod is a good conductor so the lightning will be attracted to it. If it happens again the best thing to do is to put the rod flat so the lightning is less likely to strike you.
