I think Sen. Abaribe should be removed as chair committee of power.

In my city in Edo state now, we are being taxed 20k per house to buy a transformer by BEDC. They are threatening to disconnect those that refused to pay and make them pay reconnection fee of 60k. After installation, they will start billing again. This is sad.

The Senators are right on this. The power sector has become a huge failure.

1) transmission of power bulk movement of energy from a generating site to a substation. Teams and crew members are assigned to monitor report and diagnose issues encountered. 2) distribution of power: the reallocation of authority and influence within a specific area or context. Teams and crews are needed to monitor report and diagnose issues encountered in a locality. Transmission and distribution are meant to Integrate seamlessly for efficiency. Why does this feel like rocket science? They is no accountability because nobody has a f***king clue of what is happening.

I have a functional analog meter but I keep getting estimated billings. The more I paid to try to clear of the bill, the more they increased the amount on the bill they sent each subsequent month like they don't want me to finish paying off the money. There was a woman who I met and she explained how they didn't have light for 9 months in their area but were given bill for each month of darkness and when light was restored to them, BEDC came and started threatening to disconnect them if they don't pay off the accured debt from 9 months of darkness. Meanwhile, in my community, as I type this, We just paid 150k to buy 50 litres of transformer oil and also to bribe them to fix the light for us.

How many air conditioners do you have?
@Dem_GirlsАй бұрын
@@larryenobakhare9040 I do not have any, we only get 9hrs of power supply at most in a day if we are lucky. Yesterday was only 4hrs after 1 month of blinding darkness. Most people in our neighborhood don't even use their refrigerators A/Cs and freezers anymore, it is useless without adequate power supply.

Oshiomhole and many people among you know Dr. Usman Gur Mohammed who was unlawfully removed from MD of TCN by the former minister of power, saleh mamman. Call him and discuss with him, he knows about the power sector and how to fix it more than most of the people you can ever think of

They should privatize it the same way like the telecommunications. Because if MTN is failing. I can switch to glo. And we don’t build telecom tower but we buy transform for the Disco

Lol.. these senators are big clown. See them coming out with rehearsed lines to make us think they feel our pain in terms of the power problems we face in the country as if it is we the common people that empowered these Discos to do their rubbish in the first place. Its a pity that till this day, a lot of Nigerians still fall for these their gimmicks Nonsense

Like, I thought I was out of my mind! Imagine the government that is meant to enforce sound business practices is fucking complaining as if the DISCOS and GENCOS are not subject to the very government!

They do. You can not say that they don't care. Nigeria privatized its power sector in 2013, and nothing has been done since then. Presently, Senates are working hard to make the necessary corrections. Nigerians are the same people stealing cables.
@efeamerica4400Ай бұрын
@MoeMoe-jt9ex very true. And i dont support the part where we Nigerians sabbotage public facilities. But thats still largely a function of the impoverished state of the citizens. If we had raised a society where we had plenty middle class persons, like we did in the early 60s to 80s, i dont think we would be would be here today. Today, we have a society where more than 60% of our population in the poverty bracket. Na who never see food chop dy get mind go find electric cable as a source of income. The politicians and their selfish governing style threw us in this position in the first place. Today, they have raised more beggers than nobles. So what exactly do we expect?
@Dem_GirlsАй бұрын
Your cynicism is on the extreme. You'd think problems could be fixed with a snap of the finger until you get to the office and find out what the problem is.
@efeamerica4400Ай бұрын
@Dem_Girls sorry if i gave you, 'i am the jesus-situation saver' vibe with my comment. Never meant to say leadership is easy. I have had a fair share of that life in my own little capacity. But you will agree with me that Nigeria and like many other 'back-driven' African countries is not alone in the leadership struggle. We have for long been so unlucky to get selfish leaders from one transition to another. Nobody is a Saint, but that doesnt change the fact that we have been getting more of 'devils' as leaders rather than true country compatriots.

Just contract the entire Nigeria to china into there belt and roll initiatives. You find out that the whole of Nigeria will have 24/7 365 days in the whole Nigeria. More than enough power for industry and heavy mechinaries .
