Synopsis:
Uh oh. We got a little call from the gutter installers after installing our first full-size Tesla Solar Roof: Turns out they saw sparking when they bumped the roof with a metal gutter. I remember seeing solar panels on the sides of houses in the 1980s. It was a trend that failed leaving those ugly faded panels on the house. The roof panels won’t last the reliability of knob and tube screwed with for 90 years.

What an expensive, overcomplicated, Rube Goldberg of a residential electrical system! About the time it begins paying for itself, parts will need replacement for one reason or another.

@@fun149 Thanks! But that means, there is no real ROI. There's no positive ROI to the current home owner, but maybe the kids when they are 50 y.o. You can buy a LOT of conventional power for $200k.

How do the panels, inverters, and batteries comply with working space requirements of the IFC, NEC, and OSHA? It looks to me like the batteries block safe access. * International Fire Code - 603.4 space and clearances. * National Electric Code -110.26(A) Spaces About Electrical Equipment. Access and Working Space. * OSHA - 29 CFR 1910.303(g). ACCESSIBILITY

Makes no sense that communication is inducing a voltage externally. Communication is low voltage. Also FCC requirements for emissions would assure very low levels of emissions which could not be sensed. I’m not believing this explanation. If true, something is really wrong with engineering.

Smart switches are garbage too. They have plastic yokes and are as big as 1990 gfci’s. Complete trash. When it becomes faster to go to a stupid app to switch a closet light on there’s a serious problem!
