I visited Daymak in Toronto Canada and got to meet with the founder, Aldo Baiocchi, to check out the Boomerbuggy. This personal mobility scooter is designed to be stable, easy to drive and narrow enough to fit through a single door. It’s priced at $3k starting but you can pay more for the Covered “enclosed” version and add a stereo and other accessories to make it your own.
The scooters use a 1,200 watt canister style motor and offer a 24 volt 110 amp hour sealed Lead acid battery. You can get a Lithium-ion battery but it costs more. The scooters go 8 to 10 miles per hour and 20+ miles (40 kilometers) per charge. You can also turn down the speed for indoor use at ~1 km per hour. The seat is adjustable and I loved the canopy style umbrella. There’s a cup holder for bringing along a drink and there’s no license or insurance required.
The Enclosed version comes in black, red, blue or white and has a fiberglass shell with larger more rugged tires. It has windshield wipers and suspension, the doors lock and windows roll up and down… it’s pretty cool :D but if you get cold, there’s actually a heater built in as well as a seatbelt and headrest for safety. Aldo and I had some fun racing the units around, the one I was in costs $6k because it’s Enclosed and had some upgrades. You can even get a backup camera so you don’t accidentally run over your pet.
The scooter gets delivered with a specialty truck and costs ~$500 for easy to reach locations. Daymak will ship this product anywhere in North America including Canada and America.
