the full motion cabinet version of Power Drift was such a spectacle when it released at my local arcade that people were waiting in line to drop $1.75 in quarters in to play, and it was an excellent game as well. also the cockpit version of Spy Hunter was really stunning when it came out, one of the best looking cockpit cabinets ever designed

I have a lot of nostalgia for the old electro mechanical arcade games, there'd always be one beaten up unloved in the corner of the arcade which would only cost 5p instead of the usual 10p that I'd always head for. A lovely way to spend an hour and a half, cheers lads.

Agree with Trevino; I appreciate the deep cuts on this list, but on the other hand a lot of really obvious picks feel left out. Maybe some down the line you three should make your own list and dedicate an episode to that!

Mike used to run the Tilt arcade at North East Mall? Man they had one of the best DDR machine in the metroplex at the time. HUGE underground space full of greatness. That mall hasn't been the same since they left. lol I'm glad they also mentioned Guitar Freaks. Nowadays there an enhanced version of the game called Gitadora. It's all part of Konami's music game division called "Bemani" named after their first and most successful music game "Beatmania" (5 keys and a turntable) which is now (and also still going) called Beatmania IIDX. (7 keys and a turntable (a little more difficult)).

The best arcade cabinet has to be The Last Starfighter. Nothing else came close.

The battletech / mechwarrior pods were amazing. They had them set up in a downtown mall here in the late 90's. You paid $10 for 30 minutes (I think?) but it was very immersive, incredibly fun and terribly addictive. Those cabinet/pods had a very high level of detail plus, I mean, you're in a mech fighting other mechs, it was a lot of fun.

One that was always my favorite was Virtual On Cyber Troopers. It was an arena fighting game with an over the shoulder 3rd person view. It was built in a side by side sit down cabinet where each player controlled a giant mech with tank control sticks. It was a SEGA cabinet and they released a home port on the Saturn. There was also a single player follow up that got a home release on the Dreamcast. Its one of my dream arcades to own someday.

@@dr.rotwang Trevino mentioned it in the podcast as one of his favs (I think I threw a pic in during editing). I really like that game too. We have one that needs a little restore that is BURIED in one of our storage closets.

some of the cabinets I found amusing are from Japan: The Taiko no Tatsujin cabinets, or how about the now demolished "Initial D: Arcade Stage 4 Limited"?

The SNK/neo geo cabinet was the first thing I thought of. Any Cabinet with every version of Metal Slug probably deserves to be on the list. Some great 90s things also missed, the Jurassic park sit down version was always a classic, one of the first of it's kind I ever played at the Chuck e Cheese near the Toys R Us in Ridgemar, lots of stuff there was legit good, T2 judgement day is one of my fav shooters. They had TMNT and Xmen for a time. My fav of all time I cant even remember the name of, but it was prime location when you walked into that Chuck E Cheese, right hand side just as you entered, it was a Star Fox like space rails shooter, behind the ship view, upgrades and all that. Can't even find it on google when i try to find it, it had some singular name like Stellar or Axiom or some single word title I think that was space-y and futuristic.
