Good honest review. I actually owned very similar 2021 4xe S-version (240Hp) for 4 months now and I can agree with this review. The best part is that it does what it promises and does it in a fun and surprising way. It's a great feeling to not have to think about where you can go with your car. The Renegade performs well in snow as well. We've had a terrible icy snowy winter this year and steep inclines in 30+cm of untracked snow was no obstacle at all - even with the Mrs on the wheel! The worst issues that I've had so far are: android audio connectivity some times malfunctions which is really a bummer when you're listening to some audio streaming while driving, and secondly the rear window/parking camera gets dirty really easily due to the car's form factor in poor weather. With these two being pretty much the only drawbacks so far I'm really happy with the car. That being said when choosing an electric car the decision is not so simple since the correct choice will vary depending on personal driving habits. For my commuting the PHEV is really good fit - especially with these fuel prices!

I've had one for 21 months now. I really love it: it does the off-road thing and costs next to nothing for my daily commute. Interestingly, when I bought mine, Jeep were claiming a 32 mile range in electric mode. What I've found is that in Winter it's more like 20 miles, but in Summer I can get nearly 30 miles out of the batteries. That's chemistry for you.

Don’t forget the Countryman PHEV. Yes, I know it’s not really an off roader but it is 4x4 ( sort of). But it’s probably similar to the Jeep in everything else. Real EV only range around 20 miles and combined mpg around 90. About the same boot space.Tbh it’s probably just as long and wide......... jack up the Countryman Phev by 18 inches and they’d be the same thing!
@thorbjrnhellehaven57663 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, PHEV should have at least 75 km EV range, preferably more than 100 km. Norway have some registration tax benefits for PHEV. They need at least 50 km EV range for max benefits. This was suggested increased to 75 km for 2021 budget, but didn't stay to the final agreement. In general I am opposing hybrids, but especially none plugins. But I appreciate that pure EV, isn't a viable alternative for everyone, and a PHEV can be a better alternative to replace ICE, for some. With constantly increasing number of charging options, I believe PHEV will eventually be replaced by pure EV.

You're right about the knobs (so you can wear gloves in winter) but there are volume controls etc behind the steering wheel - I use those mostly on my Jeep Compass. PHEVs need a daily charge, so if you can’t charge a BEV at home you can’t charge a PHEV either. Otherwise they are nothing but heavy self-charging hybrids. Thanks both. You two are a decent team. Being kind, as requested, but entirely subjective the car loses out on these points: 1) It's boring SUV. Time for more decent BEV estate cars. 2) It's a Frankencar. Nobody will want them in a few years' time. 3) It has two motive power systems which can fail. 4) You pay for purchase, maintenance and repair of both power systems. 5) You have to endure the roar and stench of tortured dinosaurs every time you accelerate hard. On the plus side: 1) It's useful for people who don't feel brave enough/haven't the charging infrastructure to go full BEV. 2) It looks like fun. 3) It can genuinely handle off-road conditions (or the average U.K. urban road these days). So on balance: ⅜ = 37.5% But it's only my assessment. 😁👍 Seriously now: It has its place, and it's well made, but it has a very limited future, as a vehicle type, in some major world markets. Fuel prices, taxes and legislation will kill probably them off within a decade. So these could be something of a last gasp for fossil-fuelled cars..

@@ElectricVehicleMan quite amusing really - hundreds of thousands of Fanbois literally wetting their pants after putting down their little deposit for this SPECTACULARLY ridiculous looking reject sci-fi b movie prop of a truck....!! .. having no idea what and when and if they'll ever get something which will probably be nothing like the 'concept'! ...and which looks SO preposterously daft you'll probably be too embarrassed to be seen driving it!! Can you imagine that in North Yorkshire...?!!

Why the F should I be kind? Your Scotsman aren't ye? I thought you could handle it. Anyway I was thinking it would be nice if he rated vehicles at the end of the video. Something like a thumbs up thumbs down or just AOK.

This jeep is a hideously ugly design, prefer my Outlander phev. It's 4x4 with an EV only mode which stops the engine cutting in when not wanted. I've done 3000 miles since November and only on my 3rd tank of fuel. Looking forward to the Rivian R1S coming out

They both have electric only mode. Won’t be a Mitsubishi network soon either.

Outlander PHEV was my stepping stone to BEV (etron). Fantastic car. Its 2021 though, buying a new car which has an ICE in it is silly. If you can afford a new car at this price get an EV.

@@Baldy444 I’ve driven both renegade (diesel auto and manual models) plus a hybrid outlander. Tbh the outlander is impressive on the road, it handles well and acceleration is rapid, not tried the renegade hybrid yet though. I agree the renegade isn’t the most attractive car but then again I wouldn’t want an outlander, same shape as everything else these days! I prefer old school boxy jeeps, wranglers, cherokees etc, but I’m seriously considering the hybrid renegade, because let’s be honest - your outlander’s off road ability probably can’t touch a trailhawk....

Yes, a Jeep. Built alongside and from many of the same components as a Fiat 500X. Say no more.

Selling like hot cakes in Italy. I expected to see plenty of 500s in Rome but these at least 2-1. Both 500X and Jeep are great off road - if that's not for you fine but don't be so dismissive because of the badge.

Good review, but my opinion of this is that it's a plastic shit heap. Jeeps are garbage. They've got down hill big time.
