Interesting interior.... Certainly "something different".... I'm a big fan of Citroen and DS but I would worry about residual values, as Stellantis are famous for overpricing and then discounting. One of these at 3 years old, might be a bargain!

It’s literally been the opposite up until now, electric cars have been designed for efficiency at the expense of aesthetics for the most part. Look at Tesla’s bulbous designs, or the soap bar shape of Mercedes electric cars. They’re that way to be aerodynamic but look bland. This Citroen is certainly not on that train and I really like it!

Possibly but I would hope it's a success. I'm definitely a fan of the design both of the exterior and interior. For the luxury end of the saloon market it ticks all the right boxes. Brave styling and should be applauded for that. Some of the interior finishes do look a bit naff - that centre starburst element especially. What stood out for me though is the legroom in the back or rather lack of it. An electric car in the DS range was long overdue, as the brand could have afforded to take that plunge with its more expensive offerings at least 5 years ago. It does look the part though, and the range sounds great! What's not changing with DS though is the lack of a stunning design that would live up to the brand name's history. They announced the range would go all-electric. If the brand could be Stellantis's range optimised for electric motors, at least that would be something. Then the rest of the brands would benefit from those platforms with cheaper offerings, instead of being variations on compromise.

Citroen, or DS, seem to look at what everyone else is doing, then go their own way. This DS looks really good. Both inside and out. Though I'm sceptical about those plastic wheel trims. Surely they'd only save range if their _"spokes"_ were both angled in the same direction of travel? So you'd have to have 2 x near side trims and 2 x off side trims! If not, then one set of trim would always be fighting against the opposite side?

It is a nice looking design. Rear passenger room seems very very limited, especially for taller people, of which there are many. It is clear that this Citroen DS No. 8 is engineering limited as they had to use a Stellantis sister brand as its underpinnings (Peugeot 5008). Myself and many friends of mine do wish Citroen bit the bullet and brings back a year 3000 design of the original 1960's Citroen DS 21 Pallas..

The DS No8 embodies what the DS brand should have represented from the very beginning. Citroën had the opportunity to create a French equivalent to Lexus, but they missed the mark. While this model is a step in the right direction, I can’t help but wonder if it’s too little, too late. And having a look at your video it does seem rather cramped at the back compared to a full size car or SUV, it's poor compared to a Range Rover or S-Class which is going to be the competition for this. The current market climate poses significant challenges for European automakers, especially for EVs without backing from Chinese manufacturers (Think Polestar or Volvo). With giants such as Stellantis, VW, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche all facing struggles and uncertain futures, investing in a European car feels increasingly risky. Meanwhile, brands like Tesla and BYD seem like more future-proof choices, offering innovation and stability that are hard to ignore.
