Glad I found this since I have been considering buying 1. I know this post is older but would like to know what the end result was. Living in Brazil it would cost a bit of $$$ to get one either here ( I do not trust the sellers here) or in the States. Knowing if it was a bad batch or something would be a huge help. Thanks

@@the1jamman I had bought this pedal used. The video convinced the seller that it WAS broken and he was kind enough to refund my money. I use the C9 and B9 regularly at gigs and they are dependable and I love them. I HAVE run into another Key9 that had the same problem as this one, Luckily, I was able to return that one also. My recommendation would be to only by these pedals from a seller that will accept returns if there is a problem. Good luck!

Did you ever get this problem fixed I think I know what the problem is the polarity for the power you need the one that's the black tip because if you use the when it came with can you have the original one but you have it plugged into your C9 plug it into the B9 and it should work I had the same issue I don't know if you switched the wires from the C9 to the B9 to compare and see if it'll work like I said I had the same issue and I found out it's the priority you need the one with the black tip the other ones are reversed the black tip is a standard

The mix pot was just shorted or broken. Pretty common problem for some reason with these "9" series EH pedals (I've run into at least 3 with the same exact issue). The video was made to convince the person I bought it from off of ebay that it was, indeed, broken. He took it back and I took the money and purchased a new one that did not have the issue.

I rarely ever buy a used guitar pedal or pretty much any electronic equipment, only unless it's as a last resort. Used amps especially, I'm leery of purchasing them because you don't know what condition the speaker is, if it's blown and the tubes are another factor.

Hey, you may have fixed this by now but I just received one and the dry mix knob on the B9 works exactly like the ones on the C9 and the Mel9; unfortunately your pedal must be faulty :-/

Thanks Lloyd. Yeah, it was faulty. The original purpose of the video was to demonstrate to the person I bought it from used how it was supposed to work and how it was broken. It worked too, after seeing the video, the dude refunded me my money. I ended up just buying one new from a local store, which works fine. Thanks for the comment.

@@marksira1131 I'm guessing there may have been a short, possibly a solder bridge.

@@dpompa125 haha, i´m from Brazil, i bought a completely useless synth 9 that don´t even work, nothing, just bright the LED. Just it, and if i try to send back to the company(in USA or UK) it will cost me 3 pedals because of taxes of my country. That´s the worst purchase that i ever did.

I had a problem with my C9 and emailed EHX. I sent it in and they either fixed it or sent me a new one. I don't know. I think it cost $25. I was happy.

Yeah sounds like the pedal is defective. Mine sounds like it should like your c9

I tried three different B9 pedals, looking for one that didn't have an immediate B note, very subtle, on at all times. Straight out of the box, plug in, that tone is there. Garbage pedal in my experience, which is sad because it was a fun sound. I haven't yet spoken to anyone who encountered the problem.

Yeah, I've actually run into two 9 series pedals that have this exact problem. The only thing I can say is the ones that work seem fairly hardy and stay working. That being said, its not a pedal I would feel comfortable buying used.
