Hi Sujit, In the first instance only the magnitude of the energies are described. Usually, bonding energies are negative (with respect to zero, which is taken as the vacuum level) and a bonding orbital has a more negative value than anti-bonding, hence it is more stable. In the second instance the sign is also included. I should have done a better job making the distinction. Thanks for pointing it out. Hope this clarification helps. Parasuraman S

Hi, In the video at instant 12:33 min there it's been explained that " The bonding orbital sigma has higher energy then the anti bonding orbital sigma* " and later at instant 15:37 min it's been explained that for H2 molecule "The anti bonding orbital has higher energy". Isn't it contradicts ?
@ankitindahouse7 жыл бұрын
That was just a minor mistake. The antibonding orbitals will obviously be at a higher energy.

Hello Sir, Can't we combine 3 hydrogen atomic orbitals as psi1s(A) - psi1s(B) - psi1s(C) ? Thank You

@@aerodynamico6427 he meant that he didnt understant the bonding antibonding things in this lecture without any introduction where and how these b.o and anti b.o. come from.........i didnt even understand! what are the chemistry prerequisite courses for this course???😭😭😭😭😭😭

at first u said sigma has higher energy than sigma* , and later u said sigma has lower energy than sigma* therefor it is more stable!!!! what nonsense is this
@aerodynamico64275 жыл бұрын
This is high-level stuff and requires scholarship. If you are not able to understand, go somewhere else. The nonsense is in YOU, not the professor.

why u need to see the notes again and again , common u r a IIT Teacher...i am shocked if this is the level of IIT madras, what can we expect from other low level sub standard engineering colleges.... i can teach better than u..u don't even know the atomic numbers and electronic configuration, for writing them u r watching notes ...and u r IIT teacher! shocked

@@doubtkida3629 its not a sequence, i think u have not seen the video properly, he is watching the notes even for writing the electronic configuration, oh common . 10th class student can write electronic confugrtion of his own and he can't even write that and he is a IIT professor, its shocking

Just because a person looks at his notes and speaks it doesn't mean he doesn't know the subject. And just because a person is able to remember all things from the top of his head and teaches doesn't mean he is great either (an I have had a good share of both). There is nothing wrong in using notes. He is probably referring to his notes to avoid mistakes in material data (it will look even worse if we write wrong value or keep erasing and rewriting) and there could be other reasons as well - for example it may be the first time he is teaching this particular subject or he may be new to teaching entirely (looks like a young person ). We dont know, but whatever be the case, never judge a teacher's capability by seeing whether he is using notes or not. I had several great professors (in top Indian and US universities) who used notes. It would be better to judge based on the teachers ability to explain all concepts with clarity and I think this professor is doing a wonderful job. Please remember that to be selected as an IIT professor, he must have gone through several rounds of grilling technical interview by elite professors.
