For the longest time I had this song playing on my speaker every morning for several months after a really bad breakup. It gave me the strength I needed to get myself out of bed, get dressed and start the day. I had it timed so perfectly that by the end of the song I'd reach my bedroom door and be out the door to get my mail and head out for the day. The entire time while doing all that I'd reflect on my happiest moments, milestones in my youth and the things I had to look forward to. I think it has to do with the fact that many of the songs like this are built around old synth instruments or files that were used in the late 70's throughout the 80's. This sort of music was extremely popular for commercials and such, and was sort of underground. I think it's nostalgic because people who were born after 1995 - 2006 had probably seen VHS tapes as a child with this sort of music on it. I am very certain that there was a VHS I borrowed from the library as a kid and it has this type of music on it.

I think it has to do mostly with the feel this song has. Its calming, fading in and out and has no clear structure or consistency yet has absolutely no surprises - which is exactly how childhood memories feel to everyone. To me its a train ride in Europe on rainy day, because I'm from Israel and until the pandemic we would visit Europe every summer.
