DSLR Camera, problem Solution, Err 20 Shooting is not- ERROR.Again or re-install the battery.

This video is the solution for fixing the ERR20 problem, also for the EOS200D. Just remove the front, back and top cover (disconnect the flat cables), removing any PCB is not necessary. A sprocket is visible through the small gap where the shutter motor is located beside the flashlight. Rotate the small sprocket with a small screwdriver. Rotate until the mirror is in the upper positon. Close the cases (don't forget to connect the flat cables) and insert the battery. The mirror is repositioned and the camera is working again.

I just got the Err20 error, so I took off the lens, lifted up the mirror, and one of the blades of the shutter had a small tear in it. It caused one blade to overlap the other, and I gently pushed it back in place and now it's working! It may pop back out again, but for now I'm glad it works!

​@@jazminjaz1256 The problem with your shutter might be a little different, but this is what worked for me. To see the shutter, I took off the lens, and then with a popcicle stick or something, I lifted up the trap-door mirror to show the shutter behind it. (Be careful! You are VERY close to the sensor and if you mess it up you break your whole camera!) See if any of the blades of the shutter are out of place or overlapping. It should look like horizontal lines all the way down. On mine, one flap of the shutter was overlapping another. With the precision of a surgeon, I set it back in place and now it works! Hope that helps!

Hi Everyone! Before you go thorough all this taking your lovely Canon body into a zillion pieces try the following, because it could work as well and can save you a lot of extra work. When you open the battery compartment on your camera you can feel with your fingers that the battery can slightly move inside, because of that spring that pushes it back from the bottom. I think this error comes up when the contact is not sufficient with the battery, so try the following: - open the battery compartment door - put a fully charged battery in - get a piece of paper and fold it until it becomes 1-2 millimeters thick - put the paper on top of the battery - now it will be a bit harder to close the battery door but try. If it is too hard, do not force it, just tear a small part of the paper off so it gets a little thinner (but make sure the paper will for sure apply a bit of extra push-in pressure on the battery.) and then you can close the door. - now try to shoot... For me it worked just fine, I hope it will work for you as well...

Just an update on this topic. In the meantime, I asked an official Canon repair service here about this error. They said this caused by the malfunction of the shutter. They can replace it for about $750. My camera works just fine ever since I did this hack and I have not seen this error at all. Did I save a $750 repair? It seems like...

Wow, I'm shocked I was able to fix my Eos M using this method. I took the camera apart until I found a spinny gear thing. Spun it to close the shutter, wiggled it a bit and now it works. I was pretty hasty about removing screws. lol It may never be put together 100% but it takes photos again non-the-less!

Unfortunately didn't work for me, seemed like it was going to and then after a pic went back to doing the same thing. I can now remove the battery and have it give me the ability to scroll through the pics which I couldnt, etc. But as soon as I go to shoot, err 20 again. Thanks anyways.

I need a small set of screwdrivers to fix my facebook market place robbery lol. Used one time by her son in taking camera class and poof she blocked me when I messaged her about the err 20 on a Canon T6 which will display the menus but no video mode. It will occasionally sound like it wants to take a pic in other modes but same err 20 comes up and only the view finder no display. I did get it to display pics on a used SD but nothing else. Tried the paper to hold the battery in and the shutter looks okay.

Thank you, my 80D had this error and i was scared the shutter was ok but the mirror was locked and it happened when i. Was filming, i watched this video and just forced a little bit the mirror to come down, just a little, like if i was trying to pull it down but not too much, than i closed the camera and re-install the batteries and the mirror came down and it ia ok now

Not all pieces need to be opened.Solved in5 minuter.The gear wheel is reached if you just unscrew the screen down.

Had this issue a few times, sent it in twice to be fixed. Just had it again when I set my camera to "silent shooting mode" So I think certain lenses do not support silent shooting mode. This is worth a shot if anyone has the issue.
