I have exactly same laptop. Some weeks ago it started cycling between battery and AC while plugged in. It was more on heavy load while charging. Found power connector on the motherboard burnt inside. Soldered power wires straight to motherboard and runs perfect so far. Your videos gave me confidence to attempt something like this. And thank you for the tips about this laptop :)

Hi I need your help urgently! I have a Dell laptop (inspiron 3585) and I wanted to replace its hdd. I opened it up added the new hdd and nothing happened when I pressed the power button. I plugged my laptop and no battery charging light came. I checked the battery but it was connected to the motherboard. I checked for blown capacitors and nothing I found. I did this upgrade with battery connected to my motherboard. Coluperates I suspect are cmos , hdd and ram

Wont turn on without the battery either or maybe it would but it does seem random. New charging port same problem. Any ideas of what i should look at? precision 3520. Charging light blinks in irregular patterns. Seems to be doing 2 long white blinks over and over right now now

It was givven to me witout the charger and with fat battery , so I removed it , because it was going to damage the case and the laptop . Mi question is , since I dont have the original charger for this laptop , but Im using a normal original Dell charger (from other laptop) , so can it damage the laptop or the battery (im getting a new battery tomorow)? Im using it like since september . Thanks in advance

My Dell Latitude 3520 it has the same problem, with display it inot turning on. After a few seconds, when the keyboard is light on, led from the power keyboard is turning off. If I try a screen test by pressing the D keyboard, I can run the test. I cleared RTC, but it is still not turning on display.

After bios update i got this problem as I had imagined, there are no battery problems because today I accidentally discovered that when the PC tells me that the battery is low, I tried to turn the PC back on and despite the battery indicator telling me 0%, it's more than 1 hour that I'm using it. But now in this situation I don't realize when the PC will shut down, because from 1 hour it tells me 0%. It couldn't possibly be a battery problem because it happened overnight. Now, however, I have this problem that the PC shuts down after 20 minutes because it believes the battery is low, when it isn't. What can I do

I think the secret is that he does not start with 5A. Starts low and only goes up if nothing is sparking or burning suggesting higher resistance malfunction with good heatsink

Why so many screws inside just to hold the motherboard if the own body chassis can do the job once the laptop is closed??? My Acer Aspire E15 has no screws inside at all, they chassis and the cover do the job, no need for screws, it's easy to work with. Now Acer is better than Dell?? I can't believe it.

I'm afraid the laptops are trying to compete with the price point of Chromebook and tablets. Consumers are only comparing price only, not actual computing power and usage. The same problem occurred when computers were first introduced to the main public. They were being marketed against a common typewriter price-point. People need to be better educated.

IMHO... Dell uses 16V caps on the 19V line.... from my experience correct capacitor would not fit physically... If you try to use correct cap per schematic it is bigger than what was in so I replace with lesser capacitance but 20V or 25V rated cap! Or Dell uses crappy caps!?!?! I had same 5470 Dell bad cap took out an IC and a burned traces under the IC!! goner!
