Just want to give my opinion on this tool as a lot of people are criticizing it ! I have been working on laptop batteries for approx 15 years and wish i had this equipment back then.This really simplifies the whole process and saves a lot of time,The software developer really deserves a mention as it is so easy to use.People within the industry do realize the value of this tool...like Sorin and have no hesitation paying for it.Remember we all need to encourage the small companies that spend a lot of time and resources to make life easier for us.The right to repair !

When this was originally reviewed by Sorin it was a reasonable price, seem to remember about £150 / £170 region. 2 year’s on and developer has doubled the price + the annual subscriptions. Far too much now for the average repair shop to justify payback, and if the developer could even get it to work with power tools (Unlikely due to Makiita and others proprietary chips), that would be another price hike and more subscription cost. He has priced this out of the larger market now or did he try to get greedy? The $10 Coupon code is a joke! he has probably offered Sorin an affiliate cut for every coupon used. I’m not knocking Sorin, he’s a good guy.

Everything has now a much higher price than 2 years ago, I didn't increase the profit, the profit is the same as 2 years ago, but taxes and materials are crazy high now. Do not make confusion, the NLBA1 device works lifetime as the most advanced laptop battery analyzer on the market, you paid once and you have it lifetime. If this is expensive you can compare it with Poloso tester which is a joke compared with NLBA1 and it costs more. About the Reset option, it is optionable and you can buy it when you need it if you need it. More, our NLBA1 software works with EV2400 clone which costs 25$ on Aliexpress, so if you only want to unseal and reset the battery chips you can buy EV2400 25$ + 229$ Reset License. This is the price of few batteries while you can repair hundreds or thousands in a year. More, if there is low activity on the reset license in the previous year you can get good discount for the next year. More, there is another software (just software) that costs 1000$ per year, that is expensive not NLBA1 :)

In short - too expensive. I made a quick calculation that in my shop it would have been used like 20-30(max) times annually. Depending on the fix ratio, but even if it's 100% I can't seem to profit + the labor costs. Maybe if the device was around 100$ and licencing has a 50$/year or 100$/lifetime it would make sense buying it. Same story as the vertyanov and svod chip programmers that got greedy and out of reality with prices. Nice product at all, but sadly will be a niche piece, forgotten in time.

There is another software, just software that is more complicated and its price is 1000$ per year. Why ? because you can repair tons of batteries in a year. How can it be 50$ per year when taxes are about 50% ? Is this fair for a 10 years work ? It is not like you find such product everywhere, unsealing the chips is not simple. The reset price is 229$, the price of 6-7 batteries, while you can repair hundreds in a year.
@Boskorp2 жыл бұрын
@@nipembedded9976 229 + 329 ;) As I said, product is good, don't get defensive, noone is blaming it. It's just not for a regular shops, laying around, bcs price > profit. Again - a niche product for specialised repair shops (battery remarket/repair ones). If you want it to become more convenient for regular (AIO) shops, make other type of subs as #per day $10; per reset $5; per month $30; package of 20 resets $20; etc. More options, more possibilies to gain a client that fits his needs. Also with more clients lower the box price, as your main profit will be subs, don't scare them with high initial (box) price. You need a marketing person, also a public relations person in your team, bcs I follow your comments here and in other videos of your product - you argue pointless other, than be productive, you heat up fast and loose potential clients, also makes a bad impression - be smart, not right on all cause, this is business or a hobby?!? Focus on the product and leave the other business work to more responsive ppl (PR, site, marketing). This is a free advice, take it as a constructive one, don't heat up again and people will evaluate your work.
@Boskorp2 жыл бұрын
@@kriswillems5661 The example in the video is bad one. It is good for replacing cells, so you can reenable the chips after. It's not a scam if you fully inform the client and give a warranty. Here in Bulgaria, many of the people can't afford a full battery replacement, especially an original one. So it's more cost effective for them to refurbish the original battery with good replacement cells (LG/Sanyo/Samsung/etc.) and make as good as the original for half the price. The issue is a regular shop will get not more than 20 such a requests per year and only half of those will be realised with a success, so the initial and sub price for this product will stop shop owners from buying it (with current conditions).

The battery is not fixed for a long time. If you see on the status screen it means in yellow "Unbalanced". This means at least one battery might be bad. So I think the sealed status is coming back soon because the internal controller measures that constantly.
@pseudonym36902 жыл бұрын
If you read the screen correctly, then you see that the imbalance is only 51 mV. All cells are around 3,4V which means that none of them are bad. Usually, when a cell goes bad it either drops voltage to zero or even reverts it to a negative value, but that's not the case here.

It "HAD" 90% of it's capacity that was the last reported by BMS before lock. Lithium chemistry is tricky. 3.55V or little lower is actually good for storage but that also depends on temperature which contributes to cell's aging. Lithium ions loses less when near 0% SOC but still you will lose few percents of it's capacity. This case is unique, most batteries I have disassembled in that state had at least one cell completely dead. In newer laptops there are "pillow" cells and 100% of services I have done were for swollen, puffed cells. Sorry, magic resetter can't fix that. I don't hate the video or the tool but 329 and 229 dollars for 12m license, jesus. Even if I had serviced every single battery in the shop that tool wouldn't pay it self off when comparing to some manufacturers that are making replacements on korean cells(samsung/lg) or japaneese panasonic which are around 40-80 dollars let's say per battery. Even if I could reset all my test batteries if they failed it still wouldn't justify buying the tool. The trick to this tool is that the creator somehow got knowledge of unique passwords for each of families of the chips. Without them tool would be uselless. You have password for chip, you don't need this tool. Wiring and establishing SMBus connection can be done ,other side of the coin is that you need to know commands for certain family of chips you're working on. I still hate battery industry like I hated it before. What battery needs in my opinion is soft lock when something happens and by that I mean there is fault and battery is shut down until cutting off power to the chip, fixing the battery and then chip starts with default values previously programmed and calibrates itself to the battery by using. But no, let's lock the battery because screw you and lock chip with password.

Hasn't failed me yet and if there is a chance the battery doesn't hold a charge I tell the customer they will need it replaced if it fails again. I usually just charge a small fee for labor and if it does come back I tell the customers that the labor price gets carried over to a nee battery install.

No way, chips are well secured. You can reset the chips with this setup too: EV2400 clone 25$ on Aliexpress + 229$ 1 year reset license. 250$ to repair tons of batteries in a year is expensive ? add great support from the author.

Great video, could you please give me some advice? I have the same problem you show in the beginning, but with a more modern Li-ion battery. But the strange thing in my case is this: In the beginning of this week the battery seemed to work fine. Only thing was, when the laptop was turned on, it lasted a reasonable amount of time but when the laptop was turned off, the fully charged battery was drained to 0% overnight. I again charged it, it could be used normally, but when turned off, the battery was drained after a couple of hours. I repeated this a couple of times and now the battery is dead exactly as in your video. Before using the laptop this week, I hadn't used it for half a year. Half a year ago the laptop got very hot during a download and then I turned it off and put it to the side (it's not my main laptop). I think either my battery was somehow faulty or there is some other hardware faulty in my laptop, that causes battery drain over night. Do you know what this might be and how I can try to repair it? Thank you. (I already ordered a replacement battery, I did not know you can fix Li-batteries. So in the best case I replace battery and it works. But I am asking for the case where my laptop is damaging the battery, what could I do to find out)

I think this is a sponsored video anyway, just like the first video. I can hear in your voice when you're being dodgy. Normally it doesn't make sense to revive years old batteries. The effect is not lasting. You can,'t reverse chemical deterioration. And batteries don't go randomly locking themselves (it can happen but it is rare) At best this would be a tool for people that replace battery cells.

@@laboratorioassembler The device price is paid once and you have lifetime access to the most advanced Laptop Battery Analyzer on the market. The Chip Reset Option is optionable and you can buy it when you want if you want. For 229$ you can repair hundreds or thousands of the batteries in a year, it is the price of 6-7 batteries. More, NLBA1 Software works with EV2400 clone which is only 25$ on Aliexpress, so for unsealing and resetting the chips it costs only 25$ (EV2400 adapter) + 229$ for 12 months. More, if you repair less batteries in the last year you can get 50% OFF for the next year. Is this worse than throwing away good batteries ?
@kztech13192 жыл бұрын
Actually some Dell laptop's batteries in my experience do. The models released after Dell's reputation of exploding Sony cell batteries are especially guilty of this. I've taken apart a number of dead Latitude E6x20 batteries so I can at least use just its shell on the laptops, some are indeed faulty and had one group of leaking cells, others have all good cells, and BMS declared death just because voltage went under 9V. Yes 8.5V over 3 cells isnt ideal but chances are the cells will all work fine after recharge. In fact, if it were a Latitude E6410 battery and its 8.5V, it would charge up anyway and work fine, although with higher internal resistance

It's not actually fixing the battery but the protection board of the batteries which prevents you from using it due to miscalibration.

I'd only pay the exorbitant price if it could do laptop, PLUS phones, tablet batteries as well as power tool batteries from Milwaukee, makita, dewalt even ego etc. Looking at their forum's power tools , n tablet batteries are not possible, n doubtful power tool batteries been 2 yrs no news or development. When if ever it can do tablet and especially power tool batteries I'd happily buy 10 sets. Until then sadly no not enough money to be made out of it. I have over 400 dead Milwaukee and ego 56v batteries sitting here as cell harvesting only. My main business is laptops phones tablets and more and more power tools.

I don't know about expensive. 300 for hardware that's fine, it needs things to work reliably, you want precision, you get a charger and a cell equalizer. 200 per year is 20 dollars a month. Customer comes in, says battery won't charge, needs new battery, isn't that old. You say "hey I have this tool, diagnostic, it may fix your battery for quite a while, only 10 dollars for the diagnose (and fix if it works). If not, we order new battery. You think you can't sell this twice a month? If you don't get 2 iffy batteries a month, ok, yes, you shouldn't be getting dedicated hardware.

The NLBA is awesome, BUT for a small repair business like mine, it is way too expensive for the reset feature! It was $229 for one year unlimited reset, but, like all greedy companies, they have already raised the price the price to $269! I may get 5 batteries in a year where I can reset the battery to fix it but there is no way I will make that money back. The company should have an option for buying reset per battery, maybe like $5 for reset per battery for smaller repair shops. I am just so sick of greedy companies. Yes, it is a great tool but not a good company or owner. GREEDY
@azzidoqsc7 ай бұрын
Pay per battery is not an option since the batteries cannot be counted due to technical reasons (some yes, but not all, 50%/50%) and the logistic to create licenses for battery number, invoices, support, etc leads this option to unfeasible.
