Very practical idea indeed at a fraction of the cost of brand name equivalents. And nice tip about the bootloader reinstall, had similar problem on my earlier Arduino days and for a moment thought I burned my device but eventually found a solution. Great video and keep up the good work

How do commercial solutions like the stream deck handle the mapping of shortcuts? Do I also need to assign the buttons to specific actions or do they use some superior technology? I would like to for example open a specific website in a specific browser on a button press, even when this browser is not running yet. How can this be achieved? Thanks for the tutorial though! Helped a lot already

Nice idea ! I just received my esp32 I ordered some time ago and while playing with it I discovered that many pins can be used as touch sense pins , so I can replicate this project without a screen just by extending the pins with wires. Also the esp32 has Bluetooth so this project can go wireless maybe ?

I think this is an excellent piece of kit, lovely electronics and programming, though I'd use an ESP32 or ESP8266 if I made it, but then the voltages would be wrong... I have no idea what you are on about with "streaming" or why you need a deck for it and can't just click a mouse, but hey, I just put all that in my "who wants to do this?" bin, along with watching other people play computer games and cycling across Europe.

Great homemade arduino device. I love it. BUT the thing about a streamdeck is dat it has PHYSICAL buttons. The whole idea of a stream deck is avoiding touchscreens. Otherwise you can also use a tablet or pc touchscreen.

I understand you. But you could now also customize the screen buttons so they could fit your need. I think that's also cool!

One workaround that would be easy to make is a laser cut acrylic plate to give tactile feel of buttons and then have the screen itself on a spring mechanism that has to be pushed to activate a microswitch before the touch action actually does anything.

try this, combine one of the following alt/ctrl/win/shift/altgr from the normal keyboard with your arduino hid input, if the obs/whatever allows it then you can multiply your 7 buttons to [no modifier/alt/ctrl/win/shift/altgr] x 7 = 42 could be useful on the big touchscreen also (without normal keyboard)

Ok so simple way is to use f13+a f13+b and so on this method is little complicated. You could use a f13+a and assign that to key A such that when you press A it simulates f13+a simple. The problem with this method is the haptic feedback that we get on clicking a button

Hi, I have a problem. I'm using a seven-inch screen. Clicking the button on the screen setup returns a string of codes A5 5A 06 83 00 00 01 00 01. what do I do? I imported the code into ARDUINO and turned it into a button. It seems that spaces are not allowed between characters, prompting an error. Is there any good solution?

Very good video. I would suggest you to grab some nice looking gliter filament, something like filamentum vertigo grey or prusament galaxy black. They are more expensive but it would make small projects like this look really nice. And you could make really good thumbnail which would be a lot more clickable. Keep it up :)

Hello! I've been following you for years and will be moving from Thailand to Barcelona in January. I have heard that the Spanish post office is bad with charging taxes on incoming shipments like PCBs and parts we order from China. What is your experience with that and are there any good Spanish or EU sources for parts like you and I use in our projects? Thanks!
@ELECTRONOOBS

Depends on the product. Usually I don't pay extra taxes for pcbs. But for 3D printers for example I usually do. Also, depends on the company. I hate DHL and UPS 🤣
