Elefantentreffen - Fire, Ice & beer at the 65. Elephant Rally (Best of Compilation)

[engl. & german subtitle] Warm clothes, heated handles and a decent sleeping bag are enough to be ready for the fancy Elefantentreffen in Germany. The 65. Elefantentreffen 2023 took place at the last weekend in January in a valley between the towns of Thurmansbang and Solla in the Bavarian Forest. Since I heared about this winter motorcycle meeting and its long tradition that reaches back to the 50's I always wanted to participate. 2023 was finally the time to do it. Two friends and me from the Yamaha Tenere 700 Club rode 600 kilometer from Berlin down south to the Elephant Rally to join 3500 other crazy people who came from all over Europe. Enjoy watching!

I went to 7 treffen in the old nurburg ring 1970 1977. I really rnjoyed it. It was a memorable experience. Ridin a sidecar in the winter was unforgetable. I left germsny in 1977 i think before its move. At 85 years of age and in poor health,although i still ride my sidecar rig, i doubt i will ever be able to go again. Sad

So what? You had a great life, had fun and now have a lot of life experience under your belt. That's more than many people have ever had, or will have. You have to be proud of that and not grieve. You even ride your sidecar motorcycle. What more do you want? We all have to give up sometimes. Then it just depends on whether you have really lived and not just vegetated. It's better to be well advanced in a life with "butt in your pants" than to be bored to death in a golden cage these days.

I've been there 3 times 1989, 1990 and 1992 from Italy. The challenge is truly difficult, but when you're done, well satisfaction is great. Hope to be able to get there again for the 70. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for sharing. I've never been and unlikely ever to. I went to the Dragon Rally a couple of times in the early seventies. That was severe enough for me then, when I was young.

@BurningFeetAdventures I think there were perhaps 20 riders from uk and most came solo. I am so glad the voiceover was in English, but understand that they think it should be in German obviously. Its a great video I am surprised that TV companies do not use the footage for documentaries. Thank you again Tim

Not much. Just a rolling Harley and guy that can twist the trottle ;-) All kind of bikes are welcome. Some years there is a lot of snow and it can be icy in the "Hexenkessel". In that case, and i guess your Harleyx is pretty heavy, I would camp on the flat ground and not ride down the meadows. Anyway people help eachother and when you get stuck they get you and your bike out there. The video shows it pretty well. Greetings, Stefan.

You’ve got to change your tyres surely?

@@drewdaism_ If I remember right I met a guy from UK last year riding a Harley all the way to the Meeting and back. Usually the roads a cleaned from snow and ice till the entry gate of the meeting. But I would recommend bringing some of these kind of zipp ties that kann be tied around the wheels to gain some more traction...

You don't get stuck. And if you do have problems, other people will help. That is precisely the spirit of the meeting. Besides, people are far too good at it to care about motorcycle brands. Harley is completely fine.

umgekehrt wäre es mir viel lieber gewesen. Also, auf deutsch kommentiert und, wenn man will, engl. Untertitel. Wieso? Das Treffen findet doch in Deutschland statt und Sie kommen aus Berlin! Außerdem nehme ich an, dass die Mehrheit der Teilnehmer aus D kommen. Oder denken Sie, dass ein Londoner ein Motorradtreffen in z.B. Dover auf deutsch kommentieren würde? Ansonsten erinnert es mich an längst vergangene Zeiten (Augustusburg). Dafür Danke.

Hi Helmut, Danke für dein Feedback. Sicherlich spricht auch ein Großteil der Deutschen Englisch. Aber es war ein internationales Treffen und ich habe einen internationalen KZbin Kanal. Da es Dutzende Videos in Deutsch über das Treffen gibt, war dieses Video bewusst auf Englisch (was ja echt nur wenige Sätze waren und kein Vortrag), um auch die befreundeten Motorradfahrer aus unseren Nachbarländern am Treffen teilhaben zu lassen und für folgende Treffen zu gewinnen.
