This is a fantastic show I grew up with all these people because of my mother was rock and roll freak like Me. I also wonder it's Buddy Holly was still alive, broke the color barrier first white bands to ever played the Apollo, how often would he have gone back and how much more musical genius would have inspired
@crmbaker5 жыл бұрын
Music then had a positive and feel good message. I remember going to the Apollo as a kid and for days in a cloud of pride and awe to see African American strut their stuff on stage!!👍🏽💗💞

In 1977 I had a friend who had a limo service. He asked me to do him a favor. It was to pick up Chuck Jackson from his home and take him to the Ebenezer baptist church in Newark NJ. For all of us that were born in the 1950's, and remembering hearing all of those Legends on our "transistor radios" in the early 60's when we were kids, I remember what a thrill it was ! In 1983 I also had an unexpected opportunity in an unrelated job to spend 6 hours with Chuck Berry one on one with me in conversation. Yes, life has graced me in many ways. God bless all of them.

Thank you for sharing this video. It was a sheer delight to see those Gentlemen. My favorite performer was Chuck Jackson. He sang with poise, class and didn’t require any theatrics. He allowed his powerful voice to prove it can still withstand the test of time. Such a joy to my ears.🗣👂🏽💞

Most of us real men, STILL cherish our women!! Some of these men arent men enough, and dont want to stand up for our women, and instead, they want to be women themselves!!Smh. I was at The Apollo in the 90's with my late husband. We went to a Doowop Show there. The doorman opened the door and we walked in. Looking up was a beautiful crystal chandelier. First thing that hit me was a beautiful red rug. On a wall was pictures of artists who performed there. We took our seats and I looked all around at the incredible architecture. A voice said Welcome To The World Famous Apollo Theatre. It was like being in church. Feeling all the ghosts of the performers who graced that stage. It was a magical night.
