5th patch.. How did you create it?
@NicoHolloman4 жыл бұрын
hytyttiva this one was very straightforward. Swave synth engine on the Monomachine, slow attack, long release, lowpass filter with a bit of resonance perhaps, nothing fancy going on. All the magic comes from the sound of the monomachine’s digital oscillators and quirky filters.

@@NicoHolloman Thank you so much! I gonna sure try it out and run it thru the Octatrack. Monomachine is so good for pads. The SID Arpeggio is a true gem also.

Thanks so much, happy to share! I remember when I was looking at MnM demos before I owned one and there were hardly any good poly demos. So now that I have one I thought I'd help out future potential buyers and show off how versatile the MnM can be as a poly synth (although this demo really just scratches the surface of its potential).

Nice work Nico. I've been making pads and textures with the MNM for ages and was always surprised that there was a lack of Poly related videos on here.

I know right?! The MnM demos on youtube largely suck, or if they're good they're low quality, so I'm gunna help fix that.

The Monomachine is easily one of the best synthesizers ever created and now it seems like the rest of the community is catching on to that fact because the second hand prices are skyrocketing

damn. v impressed with the sounds with the warm and beauty to this synth in poly mode.
@NicoHolloman5 жыл бұрын
Yeah it can be surprisingly warm despite being digital, but it's warmth/overall sound is very precise which can give it a sense of coolness (temperature wise). Every sound that comes out of it reminds me of something that an alien would create in its UFO. This video barely scratches the surface of how weird it can get. :)

Synth wise do the earlier/newer Elektron gear have any differences tone wise? I’m looking into the Analog Keys, Digitone, and Mono specifically. I’m new to music producing and I’m interested in Elektron gear. Especially the FM synthesis. Would like to get some opinions around. Thanks
@NicoHolloman4 жыл бұрын
Synth wise, the newer elektron machines sounds really clean, really modern, kinda like a great VST on steroids. The monomachine sounds a bit more retro to my ears, because the waveforms are a bit more old school like the SID and Ensemble waveforms. Personally I don't find elektrons newer synths very inspiring. They sound a bit sterile and feel pretty menu divey (the monomachine is a lot of menu diving too). Elektron synths in general feel more to me like tinkering with a cool science box where I have to look into a small screen a lot, but the awesome sound design the MnM produces usually makes it worth it. In general I prefer synths like the ms-20 where it's all knobs and no screen, because I love the immediacy and surprise factor of that. If you're into FM then the digitone may be a good purchase for you. I don't own one and haven't watched many demos, so I can't really speak on it, but keep watching youtube demos and see which synth hits you in the heart.

What do you use to connect the keyboard to the monomachine
@NicoHolloman3 жыл бұрын
Any keyboard that has a 5 pin midi connection will do. In this video I used an Alesis v61, and right now I'm using an Arturia Keystep 37

@@geecen congrats man they are so fun! It's especially fun using Poly Mode with two people because one person can play the patches via a midi keyboard and the other person can modulate those patches with both hands. I did this with a friend a couple months ago and we ended up sitting in a MnM trance for 2 hours in a sea of otherworldly sounds.

On paper theres a lot to be desired with the monomachine (especially when thinking of live performance). But as a studio weapon I find the sounds that the MnM creates takes all the technicalities off my mind and I'm just happy haha
@adriannunez88684 жыл бұрын
@@NicoHolloman synth sound wise do you think the Digitone, Analog Keys, and the monomachine sound any different? Or does Elektron keep most of the synth presets sounds the same?
@elyssapalmer22984 жыл бұрын
@@adriannunez8868 they all have wildly different forms of synthesis and because of that sound very different regardless of whether you’re using the presets or making your own sounds

Yeah that patch felt to me like taking a warm digital bath. The HP filter also reacts very powerfully on this patch/synth overall. 6:52 is probably my favorite for it's unique grunginess, but 1:55 is definitely a close second. Thank you for the feedback :)
