Elektron Monomachine soundscape - Slumbering sorrow

Wow - I had no idea how bad the dust would look under the light… but it certainly looks bad. Well, guess it needs to be cleaned!
The Monomachine seems like an unlikely synth to use for an ambient soundtrack, but honestly, it sounds great.
I did try to load different sounds to use and switch between them, but the synth couldn’t handle that without strange glitching behavior (it can’t load different sounds fast enough using polyphonic voices).
Eventide Blackhole VST used for reverb.

Vibes. Love the mnm’s poly, very slept on. You can sometimes take creative advantage of how she refreshes a voices patch holding notes while changing tracks, there’s a particular rushing

Yeah - it just didn't seem to work right for what I was going for here, but I agree that it can be interesting! It's basically got 6 patches you can cycle between to achieve interesting timbres. Thanks!

Great sounds.........................and if you don't have a can of compressed air around, I find a quick vacuum and then a paintbrush does a great job of wiping the dust off synths........

Hey thanks! Ummm… I haven’t made a ton of videos in the last few years with it. I have an old one so I’m not sure what machine I used, but the one that does allow oscillators to be different pitches.

@@RJ1JI have no idea. I’ll have to turn it back on to figure it out :/ whichever one lets you have multiple oscillators at different pitch is the one I used. I think there’s only one that allows that, right? You’d think I’d know better, but I wrote this half a month ago and haven’t touched it since!

The dust doesn't look that bad.... lol . but i did notice it. I started putting gear back in boxes when they go in storage. it keeps the dust off them and you can stack up the boxes so it's more room and better protection.

I stupidly threw out all my boxes back in the day. Wish I'd have kept them for this reason exactly. Ah well. Here I am.

@@MIDERA I got rid of most of mine too. LOL it's not like you wont get more gear so you can always save them in the future. The other thing is go to thrift shops and look at nice boxes. you can always do it that way. It's better to use unique boxes so you know what is what or use labels.

Is this a mark 1 or mark 2? Because I can hear some aliasing.

Mark 1. I have two of them. Figured the engine was the same between them mostly. Also, they’re both digital synths and I can’t imagine aliasing was removed in the mark 2.

@@MIDERA was not lol. there's a lower noise floor and the I/O are TRS balanced but engine didn't change outside of addition of double draw and user waves to digipro.

@soupforare yeah, that’s what I thought. Always wished I’d have gotten the MKII, but these were so cheap I couldn’t say no to two of them. Wish I could’ve made them into a 12 voice synth!

@@MIDERA yea, it's a shame poly overflow or even simple odd/even became less common after the 80s. There's the venerable midipal, and, now, a bunch of boxes to do the splitting up for you but; futzing~
