This is what is meant when people refer to these "boxes" as instruments. It's more than just "pressing buttons". This is masterful. Playing Liszt's "La Campanella" is nothing more than pressing 88 long rectangular buttons arranged in a row.
@user-wf4nl2yy8x10 ай бұрын
Are you saying any person that is able to press 88 long rectangular buttons arranged in a row can just create a masterpiece out of nowhere without any understanding of composition, harmony, countepoint developed through years of study and practice?
@mooted55138 ай бұрын
La Campanella sounds like good music. This sounds like a fax machine.

Anyone with an Octatrack just shat themselves thanks to the sheer speed and confidence this guy works the machine with. The scene changes as an effects selector was amazing as well. Bravo, good sir.

I just bought this - I don't even own an Octatrack. It's awesome to see in detail how Cenk thinks about constructing tracks live. He's only asking £5 on bandcamp for this, it's a steal for the knowledge in it. Cenk, please make more of these. Support your local Dataline!!

OOOOH!! Can’t wait to level up on that tutorial! Been on the Digitakt for the last year and just had to step up to Octatrack! It’s everything I ever hoped for and I’m diving in deep after I get scratching and general dj’ing down. Can’t wait to be able to mangle live samples from my Dad’s killer guitar riffing! Going to be a blast into the next dimension!

Tomasz Szymanek to me it sounded like there was way too many gimmicks being used, it kills the flow of the music, also would be a very awkward to dance to. Just because there are all these gimmicks on the Octa doesn’t mean you have to use all of them all the time, it gets tedious after a while.

I bit the bullet and figured anything CENK says would be worth 10$ so i bought the tutorial video on bandcamp and it was definitely worth it! I've seen pretty much every OT video out there but his way of explaining and demonstrating very powerful performance techniques really was exactly the extra bit i was missing from most tutorials out there... seriously folks do yourselves a favour if you're still relatively new and get this video... it's worth it. it's around 30 minutes long, but you'll probably spend hours watching and rewatching it.

I got the tutorial, very easy to follow, concise and clear.. Thanks very much! Waiting on the shipping of my MKii, but I think I'm already getting a handle on parts v patterns and how to set up for live resampling thanks to your good work. I'm curious.. Each OT pattern can have a different part number assigned, so why wouldn't you change the pattern rather than the part? you can have pattern 1 running part 1 clean, then patterns 2-16 running part 2, that way any extra triggers etc will be gone when you switch back to pattern1-part1?

This is awesome work ive finally got enough money to get a rig going for electronic music and the octatrack looks awesome as the technology advances it will be more and more possible to do live electronic music that is so varied and dynamic, think of a central box with a step sequencer plus 16 pads that you can use both at the same time with other boxes that you can hook up that allow for sonic manipulation far beyond what we see here.
