I think this a great lil product. With the recent firmware upgrade now adding the USB audio interface function, 2 selectable 6 band graphics and preamps in the app, it’s a very versatile product.

I would really like to see an actual demo of this device in it's intended possible applications. Because so far I jus't don't see it being that functional? And to be clear here: I own a lot of Darkglass products, so no hate to find here. What I don't get is: 1) Why is there a second headphone output? I have never ever been in the situation that I am playing and someone really wants to listen to me. Maybe that's just me though. 2) Why doesn't it come with an internal battery pack? Or even a battery slot? Yes, I know Darkglass cares about the environment and that's fine with me with every pedal. "But it isn't a pedal" to quote Amos this one. Without the possibility to use it outside and on the go it's not very handy, is it? And as soon as it is installed on a pedalboard it won't ever be used anywhere else I guess? 3) Now this is obviously more of a luxuary problem so it's not really a big point. But if you already own a (lot of) Darkglass equipment you already most likely have a headphone output and cab sim. So it's not adding anything to it. Put a battery pack inside and add a second instrument input and it's a different story. But all this advertising about being a portable swiss army knife... I just don't see it... Prove me wrong! Until then I will stick to my Interface and the Neural DSP when playing at my PC, to my Darkglass Amp / Pedalboard when playing in a band context or to my Vox amPlug2 Bass when playing everywhere else.

I totally agree. I feel like this would be great for someone who doesn't already own any of the newer Darkglass pedals that have headphone outputs and cab sims already on board. As a practice tool this seems great but a bit redundant if you own any of the aforementioned DG pedals.

I don’t own any Darkglass products. I was looking at one of the Microtubes Ultra or B7K Ultra, I don’t know how much I need the distortions but I would like to be able to eq the distortion a separate to clean. I want to jam with headphones but also hook up to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i 2 to record as instrumental direct isn’t the best...This came up as a suitable preamp to make it sound amazing...

@@JohnDinnen Hi John. I get where you are coming from. However If I were in your situation I would rather purchase the Neural DSP Darkglass or Parallax or even the Darkglass Harmonic Booster. Because those tools are way better for recording and also cheaper because you already own an interface. Also you mention you want a preamp, but this isn't one. It has cab sim, yes, but no preamp stage and no eq settings (as far as I know). Just my opinion though, so go for what seems best for you!

@GodVraccas I’m in a situation to swap out my x ultra for element. I’ve seen in some demos of it that we could tweak eq, cabs, amp sim(which has drive knob on it), even noise gate in the chain and even different mics and positions through Bluetooth using darkglass app on mobile or pc and even through usb with pc/laptop. I also have another preamp pedal which has built in compressor as well and I use the distortion circuit of that pedal too, so I used my x ultra just for the EQ and full band compressor only right now. So, I think with Bluetooth features, noisegate, ampsim, eq and 5 slots, I think swapping my xultra out for this one would be better with all these useful features for my situation. What do you think?

Do with all these cool possible expansions like connections to DAW, would that be a firmware update or have to buy a new device? I am interested in this as a headphone amp but also as a way to make my bass sound nicer when recording through Focusrite Scarlett ...

If it's at the end of the signal chain on a pedalboard, can it then be run into an amp?

I use a 21” subwoofer (AccuGroove El Whappo Grande) with my low F# rig. Is there a similar speaker model in the software?
