Yes. However, if you look at the Cabinet Ministers, a whooping majority of them send their children to English-medium schools or institutions abroad. It's true that one can decipher well if instructed in the mother tongue, but do you think the little kids of today, especially those in semi-urban and urban areas, don't listen to English songs or watch English movies? Moreover, in a diverse behemoth like India in terms of cultures and languages, it's utterly baffling to stick on to the mother tongue for a long time. Various cities have multilingual populaces, therein it will be detrimental if all schools teach in a particular language.

हमलोग कल घर जायेंगे ये बात शिक्षक बोले तो नर्सरी वाला बच्चा समझ जाता है लेकिन we shall go to home tomorrow बोलेंगे तो बचा नहीं समझेगा क्योंकि उसका भाषा हिंदी स्कूल आने से पहले तैयार हो जाता है लेकिन इंग्लिश में cat means billi or dog means kuuta school aakar sikhna padta hai यही कारण है
