Fantastically gripping performance; for vocal/chamber/theatre combined, hard to imagine better. The rôle-change with the pianist, the touches of tuning hammer, or cloak...all add to the surreal atmosphere; i'm sure Shostakovich would have been suitably amused! Marvellous to have this on video, thank you!

Thank you very much for speaking so highly of our work! This Shostakovich's masterpiece is one my most favorite pieces to perform, which I never get tired of. I am so glad you've enjoyed watching it. Thanks a lot! With kindest regards, Elena P.S. Would love to know your name :)

Отлично. Идеально слышан текст (что тут принципиально важно), очень артистично (и не само по себе, а для выражения именно текста), спето тоже весьма качественно. Браво

Wonderful performances. I translated some of these Satires into English years ago, and really should complete them; and Helene really should sing them too. Your rendition is a model to emulate - just like your Medvedovskaya performance! The use of the tuning hammer as a prop in the single-tone sections is ingenious. (A model for me too!) Love to both of you - Leonard (& Helene) Lehrman
