"Honorable Mention Awards are awarded to work demonstrating creative potential. Approximately 10-15% of regional submissions are recognized with Honorable Mention Awards.Mar 3, 2022" not 40% btw

I'm a Junior and I want to submit writing (specifically short stories) but I'm not taking an English class since I passed all the English classes available at my school. Who do I ask to be a sponsor? Can I still ask that teacher even if I'm not taking their class anymore? Also, for the form, do I have to print it out and have the sponsor sign it?

hey eleni, I really appreciate your videos. Could you possibly do one on creative writing? How to become a better writer?
@eleniarizona7 жыл бұрын
yeah i've made a few videos on my poetry and prose writing processes so maybe check those out but if you want something more specific than those definitely let me know!

I second this. And are you a creative writing major, just curious?
@eleniarizona7 жыл бұрын

Hi eleni! If I started this process in senior year would I be able to put it on my activities list? Does any awards or recognition come out before apps are due?
@eleniarizona7 жыл бұрын
awards usually come out after apps are due unfortunately, but you can always send in an update email to your colleges

Thank you! This was super helpful. Do you know if you can share with us your creative writing work? It doesn't have to be work that was recognized by Scholastic. As a creative writer myself, I'm always interested in reading the work of others.

yeah, i've uploaded a few videos of me sharing poems i've written. they're in my creative writing playlist!

what do i do if i want to submit photography but don't take photo as an elective?
@eshyyy66247 жыл бұрын
like would i just ask the school's photo teacher to sign the form? bc it would be kinda weird since they're not my teacher 😬
@eleniarizona7 жыл бұрын
yeah i mean i'd still try asking. just tell them that you want to submit to scholastic and you're not taking an art class so you aren't sure who to ask to sign, and if they could sign it for you. also offer to show them your work, since the forms each correspond with one piece and they're supposed to vouch that your work is yours

eleni arizona okay, thanks!

hi eleni! loved this video :) for the form a teacher has to sign, is there a form for each submission or do they just sign once? id feel kinda awkward having them sign for like ten submission individually haha
@eleniarizona7 жыл бұрын
yeah there's a form for each submission so i also just like gave my teacher a huge stack of forms and had her sign them all haha

can students who do not reside in the U.S or Canada participate?
@eleniarizona4 жыл бұрын
the website says: "Public, private, or home-school students in the U.S., Canada, or American schools in the rest of the world enrolled in grades 7-12 (ages 13 and up) are eligible to participate in the Scholastic Awards" so it seems like if you attend an "american school" outside of the U.S. and Canada, you can still apply, but unfortunately if you're outside that group then i don't think so, sorry!
