Well, yeah,
but we are back at Ravens Rainshadow Ranch for now,
but let's have a *Brady Bunch*-style flashback.
Wildlife that the Creator saw fit to make is vanishing around the world,
plummeting at rates unprecedented in human history. because of humans.
Then there are elephant seals and sea otters
I love sea otters. These adorable creatures are the largest in the weasle family,
Their numbers were once estimated to be between 150,000 and 300,000,
Then they were hunted extensively for their fur between 1741 and 1911.
This led to their world population plummeting to only 1,000 to 2,000 individuals, living in a fraction of their historic range.
Fortunately, sea otter conservation efforts and reintroduction, have contributed to their numbers rebounding.
Then there are elephant seals,
which were hunted nearly to extinction for the oil rendered from their fat for lamps.
Thankfully, these giants are making a comeback.
I was able to get permission so actually get down onto the beach with them and their pups.
The males get to be up to 8,800 pounds,
being on the beach with them was gnarly,
but I only had to run once.
