In this video you will experience our journey to the Elephanta Caves from Gateway of India, Mumbai. Also, we share our experience in Mumbai local train from Andheri to CSMT. We explored CSMT (formerly known as VT) and then took a BEST bus and went to Gateway of India. From Gateway of India we took a ride to Elephanta caves, which is 10 km away from main land.
We had dinner at famous Jimmy Boy restaurant, we tasted Parsi delicacies.

Extremely well crafted video on your visit to Elephanta and the area around Colaba. As a Mumbaikar (Mumbai resident and a long time Probasi Bangalee) I agree with you completely that though the rain may seem to be a spoilsport to tourism, the four months of rain bring a different charm to the city and the locals are used to this long period of continuous rain. May I touch upon a few points and go backwards - Jimmy Boy being a Parsi restaurant, they hold on to everything Parsi. Thus, rather than the more prevalent soft drinks they served you Pallonji’s drink which is a Parsi product. Earlier it used to be Dukes before it got taken over. Salli Murgi (with chicken) and Salli Boti (with mutton) is where salli means rod or stick and the typical “aloo bhaaja” served is what is salli! Bade Miya’s sit down area is not as popular as their outdoor eatery. The outdoor eatery is nothing but your car. Post sundown until late into the night, scores of cars come and park themselves along Bade Miya. Orders are taken and the food is served on the bonnet of your car. The bonnet is opened, an empty cold drink bottle is paced between the bonnet and the engine so that the bonnet is no longer slanting but flat. The food plates are placed there and people stand and eat around their car bonnet. This video certainly has a great “feel good” impact. However three locations got captured as part of the tour plan and these locations bring back a very horrifying memory of 26th Nov 2008. Amongst the mayhem and the hundreds of innocent lives lost that evening through indiscriminate firing at CSMT, Taj Mahal Hotel and Café Leopold there were a few who turned heroes for ever. While there were many, two associated with these locations were Vishnu Dattaram Zende (announcer at CSMT station) and Karambir Singh Kang (General Manager of Taj Mahal Hotel). Kang lived on helping guests but lost his wife and two sons who were in their apartment in the hotel. Each time I am anywhere near these places, my mind goes out for those innocent lives. In the video you spoke of feeling blessed having been born in India. Indeed!
