Why did I design a laser cutting project if I didn't own a laser cutter? Well, another laser company, which will remain nameless, reached out and offered to send me their machine and I said sure. I did the redesign anticipating that machine. Unfortunately, after some back and forth their "terms" were ultimately unacceptable. They basically wanted a paid review.

@@ElevatedSystems it was a genuine question, no I don't understand it, unless you are so weak that some money clouds your judgement or they demand bias from you in their favor then why deny them? Perhaps they just wanted your seal of approval (or genuine input) and were willing to pay you.
@ElevatedSystems

@@leonardonetagamer It's illegal in the US for a company to pay for a product review. And yes almost all paid reviews come with a contract that includes specific talking points and usually a video review and approval process. It's no different from the Amazon sellers that send a note with a product that says write us a 5 star review and we'll send you a gift card.

that's pretty sweet, I was personally wanting to figure out a way to use a framework mainboard to make a tiny server or NAS with a handful of drives. The idea of an affordable, upgradeable (sp?) and--most importantly--power efficient laptop CPU based server/NAS/homelab toy thing really appeals to me. Not sure if your designs could be easily modified to hold 3.5" drives but I'm gonna poke around and see. Be a good use of those m.2 -> sata cards which are real cheap.

Amazing, Would be really cool to have a version using the Onedock egpu dock (thunderbolt+Occulink , they're shipping a new batch this December) I'm planning on cutting a hole into my cooler master framework case which is currently housing my 11th gen board to allow the occulink adapter to directly connect to the pcie 4.0x4 m.2 slot. While this will work temporarily something like in the video would be better. Re-using a razer dock pcb is good but it still limits the cards to around 40Gb/s. Might even take your design and mod it to accommodate the different One dock PCB although my CAD skills are limited.

It would be great to see a video on laser glasses now you have a laser cutter. Too many people take it for granted that any glasses they buy from the laser manufacturer or Amazon are fine. The ones that Xtool ship seem to be almost garbage, and there are some cool (but destructive) ways to prove which ones are best at stopping laser light at different wavelengths.

Nice project, I would recommend few or no vent holes on the top and sides. You want to force the cold air from the front along the motherboard and GPU and out the back, not just take the path of least resistance and leave the case. At least that's my theory, it's easy to test. Run a heavy load on the CPU and GPU and graph the temps over 5 minutes. Then repeat with the side/top vents blocked.

A 3D printed case will never look as stunning as such a metal/wood case, but depending on how extreme the thermal stress is, it should be perfectly possible to 3d print a case that is durable. ABS can handle heating cycles up to 80°C decently well (maybe even closer to or up to 90°C). I would assume it shouldn't get too hot at the case. If it were to get hotter, something like PC-CF can probably handle up to 105°C or so (and also looks good).
@ElevatedSystems
@ElevatedSystems Жыл бұрын
Most hobbiests don't have a printer setup capable of doing a print this large in ABS or polycarbonate. If you were going to have it printed with a service I'd go with a tough heat resistant resin print. The files for the 3d printed version are on my Github.

@@ElevatedSystems Good point. 314mm height is quite a bit. I think I could just manage on my Voron 2.4 if I go a few mm above my regular limits. I've got too many projects to build such a desktop case myself though and I just built a PC not too long ago anyway but thanks for pointing me towards the Github page. I am not sure I would trust heat resistant resin but I honestly have only experience with other technical resins not heat resistant one.

I don't comment much but I just wanted to say that is an amazing case. I watched a "reaction video" to tool before this and that guy had 2.4 million subs and I notice you only have 45K. That is a travesty as this is a far superior video of you doing stuff I wouldn't even attempt vs a guy listening to tool for the first time. Likes and subs clearly don't always have a linear relationship with quality (no disrespect to the other guy though as his video was fine just not this). Hope you keep making videos
