If these traction motors are DC where are the DC drive cabinets? There is only the conduit running from the controller cabinet to the traction motor. These motors appear to be 3 phase AC I saw magnetic starters in one of the controller cabinets. I have heard of rectifiers being used in some installations, and not a DC Drive with the 3 phase transformer switching supply type.

As an actual elevator mechanic I must say I understand what you are trying to do but you guys really should enlist a professional elevator mechanic during these teachings because your information is not all correct or safe. It is feet per minute btw. Thank you guys for your service as firefighters but please for your your own safety and knowledge enlist a good professional mechanic

Drifting a cable traction car is a bad idea, no disrespect to you guys training but there are very bad consequences to this procedure, mainly the “runaway car” situation. Please wait for a qualified elevator mechanic to arrive and let THEM be the judge, and person to do this. The rest of the FD world should not be practicing this on a cable traction elevator system!!

Posting this stuff on line is the dumbest idea ever. Hey kids look at what NOT to do if you want to live long! The controller you pointed to first is a Variable Frequency Drive for your AC motor! Train your guys to be safe but keep this half incorrect information offline! Unless it’s life or death call an elevator company and get professionals out to do the work safely!
