Idk I'd it helps but you can click and drag at the bottom of the short to skip. If the red dot isn't there just pause the video and it'll appear. :)

@@xethan7225 This is helpful, thanks. I do often forget about it. You can't adjust playback speed. You can't do frame by frame. You can't cast it like you can regular YT videos to your TV. You can't put up subtitles. The permanent graphics along the bottom block important parts of the video. You can't control the quality or resolution. You can't make the video full screen. YT Shorts are just terrible.
