seriously, dont be so cocky and a smartass, you may look like a total fool like in this video. the card takes a 4x slot that is true. its your fault you didnt check your mainbaords manual. it seems that your secondary 16x slot shares bandwidth with a lot more other devices, usually nvmes and sata controller, so your avermedia didnt even got 4x bandwidth. no false advertising anywhere, just people making reviews with dangerous half knowlege.

*The "×4 PCIe bandwidth problem" (with the AverMedia) is NOT the card* (so it's not "false advertising") - there literally *can't* be* a difference in ×16 performance since (if you look at the edge of the card) you can see that *it only has 4 lanes' worth of PCIe* fingers. IOW, the difference you encountered was because you moved it to the *GPU slot* where the PCIe lanes come *directly off the CPU* as opposed to through the chipset. It was still only using 4 lanes (since that's all it physically has). Some of the older versions of various X570 BIOS had some problems with chipset PCIe steering, so you could try updating your BIOS. (Also, make sure your chipset's cooling fan has a decent air supply. When X570 doesn't have good enough case ventilation, it can run hot and throttle its throughput bandwidth).

@@andrewryder3075 I had the latest BIOS when I tested, and I even opened the case for testing purposes. I use the Elgato 4K 60 Pro to this day without the same problem. It's a common issue with people with other motherboards as well. But you can buy it if you want.

I just ordered the AverMedia Live 4K and it's "an upgrade" from the Elgato HD60 Pro PCIe card. Not many folks realize that one topic that many reviewers cover is the color range available. For the hardcore retro streamers/youtubers it does the Live 4K also has uncompressed FULL 4:4:4 RGB while "none" of the products on the Elgato side offer it. The only support 4:2:2 and the HD60 Pro only supports 4:2:0 even worse....so the verdict is still the same... go with the AverMedia Live 4K.

Great video! You helped me pick the card. I think you might be confusing the small pcie for 4x when they generally are only 1x. The larger ones are the 16x 8x 4x and they can change based on your motherboard and could gen.

Thanks for watching, glad to help. True, I should have clarified. My motherboard has two x16 slots but only the top one actually gets x16 speed. The second one fits x16 devices but limits them to x4 speed. So putting the GC573 in the second slot limits its bandwidth.

The bandwidth limitations is due to your motherboard favoring the top slot when communicating over the pcie bus. Unless your motherboard advertises that it can do the full pcie gen 4 speeds from both at the same time then when the top slot is using gen 4 the bottom will be limited to gen 3 or 2 depending on the motherboard. Which is why putting the capture card in the top slot made it perform better

Maybe, I wanted to review these with a PS5 or Series X the first time around, but they're still out of stock a year later. But when they're in stock I might compare them again. Yeah, the problem with the bandwidth of the GC573 is (to my knowledge) they don't give you any specific numbers to target so the only way you can find out if there's an issue is to buy one to run the bandwidth test. The 4K60 Pro never had that issue and if I knew it was gonna be such a headache for so many people I probably would have recommended everyone with an NVIDIA card just get the Elgato 4K60 Pro to avoid the hassle.

So, I recently upgraded from the HD60 Pro to the 4k60 Pro and I can't record in ANYTHING other than 1080p. 1440 and 2160 both just shows me a green screen. Either solid or flickering. I have a Nvidia 1660 Super and Ryzen 7 3800x. So I should be able to capture 2160p. Guess I'll give the avermedia a shot.

I've read that you can record >60 FPS with the Elgato 4K60Pro in other applications such as OBS, just not with the 4K Capture Utility. I think it'd lock you out of recording in HDR since only the capture utility has that feature. Have you been able to try that? And did Elgato ever get back to you on the support ticket?

I'll check on trying to go over 60 FPS in a day or two (I have to finish a project before I open my PC again). As for the support ticket, they responded and confirmed HDR definitely doesn't work with AMD cards including the 5700 and 5700XT. Not sure if they support the new 6000 series cards that just came out though.

No, only the AVerMedia has that issue. I didn't even know that bandwidth problem was a thing until I got that card. So yeah, Elgato 4K60 Pro works with x4 no issues.

The Avermedia, for me, also runs with very little latency, but the software would crash now and again and wasnt super great to use. I had the original 4k60 Pro and now I also have the 4k60 Pro Mk2 and I like the software much better, cleaner, and the multi-app is what sells it for me. However I feel like maybe the latency isn't as good? Might just be the fact I've only been recording VITA games at the moment haha. I'll try with a PS5 soon.

NDI link is not syncing my Elgato webcam properly with my audio , So either I put my webcam on the Gaming PC with its audio to sync. Or I buy a Capture card. The whole purpose of this for me is to save my FPS on the gaming system. Hopefully the Elgato FaceCam won't cause me to drop frames. But at 1080p 60hz.. I wouldn't doubt that it would. I will test it tonight.. After reviewing this video he clearly saves the best for last. Not only is it a better product the GC 573 its also better priced. Evermedia is an encoding method that draws and uses PC resources, and Elgato knows that its own hardware encoding is supported. I'd like to know if you feel this part a lot in actual use.

Hey, I have an MEG X570 Ace Motherboard with 3 x PCI-E 4.0 x16 slots. So it doesn't really matter where I plug in the avermedia and it should work am I right?

I looked up the manual for an X570 Ace. While they're all x16 slots, only the top (PCI_E1) gives x16 bandwidth. But PCI_E3 gives x8 which should be enough for the AVerMedia. So I'd put the graphics card at the top and the GC 573 in the PCI_E3 slot.

I have the 4k60s+. I get a lot of stutter on the 4k utility. Sometimes I get those weird video images you posted. Elgato changed it twice already and the problem is the same. I turned my pc upside down by clicking every setting possible thinking it was my pc. I seen every video on KZbin on stuttering and nothing works. I think it's the capture card that sucks ass.

I've seen it done on other motherboards, but I can't verify myself since my X570 doesn't have enough slots to fit 2 capture cards and a graphics card. If you do have enough slots, you'll also need enough bandwidth.

My stream PC have a GTX 1660 Ti (in the 16 lanes PCIe port) + 2 AVerMedia cards : one LIVE GAMER 4K (in PCIe 4 lanes slot) for capture + one LIVE GAMER 2 HD (in PCIe 1 lane slot) for the camera ; works fine. Just don't use a SLI/Crossfire motherboard, so that your capture card is *NOT* on the direct-to-cpu PCIe lanes ; those are for the GPU, so if you use another 16x slot that is for SLI, your GPU would go 8x only, sharing the direct lanes to the CPU. Check your motherboard documentation, and use those PCIe slots that are *NOT* direct to the CPU, but are connected to the motherboard chipset, so that you still get the 16x for the GPU.

I ended up getting the 4k avermedia but I get micro stutters. Will changing it to the top pcie help with that? Apparently the top one is "faster" I have the gpu on top and capture card on the bottom. I have msi x570 mag tomahawk wifi mobo. Rtx 3070,amd 5900x and 128gb of ram.. Its way better than the elgato that's for sure and I can record with it most people cant notice it but I can and it bugs me.

I have a very similar motherboard. Switching to the bottom got rid of all stutters for me and several other people. I wish you didn't have to, but it seems like the bandwidth requirement of the AVerMedia 4K is more than the bottom slot can push. I would run some benchmarks or just take a note of your FPS in games before you switch though so you can tell if using the 3070 on the bottom slot hinders your performance at all.

Can someone tell me if I’m understanding this right? I have an elgato 4k60 pro mk2. I want to play my game at 1440p 120fps. In the video he says it only captures 60fps. Does that mean I have to play in 1440p 60fps? Cause so far I am NOT liking this card. Seems like any setting I do is making videos stutter, frame drop, etc. And then the avermedia 4k does 1440p 144hz record? Does that mean that when I look back at the recording on my monitor it will be a 144fps and not 60fps on the actual video?

No it means that you can play 120 fps or higher but it will capture your recording at 1080 60fps i just bought this card and streamed my latest video using this card, i have both next gen consoles so i play at 120 fps while the 4k60 m.2 captures my gameplay at 1080 60 fps. also if you want clear crispy footage make sure your bit rate is set correctly i put in 24 hours researching this card so these are my findings

One day maybe. The capture card market pretty much peaked back when I released this. These are still the flagship capture cards from Elgato and AVerMedia and nothing has been released to replace them.

Are you recording PC footage or console footage? If it's PC, you don't need one unless you're using a 2 PC setup.

@@BadIntentStreamTechReviews I am unsure what your asking. I wanted to stream nintendo switch. I'm using my 3080 to stream but notice it can only handle 720p 60fps on twitch. Would a capture card make my stream better? Also I wonder if the 3080 can stream nintendo switch. LOL omg...im new to steraming.

@@nalmunati I'm saying are you recording from a PS4/PS5 or Xbox or just what's on your computer? If it's just your computer, a capture card is not needed and won't help. What CPU do you have? Your 3080 is a lot stronger than my RX 5700, so 1080p 60 FPS streaming should be easy unless you're playing a demanding game. In which case what might help is launching OBS as administrator which gives it resource priority. I can't stream a lot of games without admin mode.

well you are using a amd build and cause of this amd and AVerMedia kind of match i am using a Nvidia gpou 1080ti so i went with Elgato hd 60 pro .

Yes, works perfectly with Xbox Series X, Series S, and PS5. Just have to disable HDCP of course.

I have the live gamer 4k and an RX6600 XT and it does not support hdr. AMD is such crap. I should've stuck with Nvidia. 😡

You should have researched before buying a graphics card for you main usage type, Nvidia might be more popular for some things but it still sucks at others... because if you were to try Linux distros with a Nvidia GPU you'd be saying 'Nvidia is such crap' instead
