Back when I played WoW I had 2 usb foot pedals, they could only act like a keyboard press so I tied them to the two most commonly used actions I used while tanking. It was nice because the actions I would be clicking every few seconds and it let me move more actions closer to my movement keys and eased the strain on my fingers.

I can see this getting WWWWAAAAAAAYYYYYY more useful if Elgato would ever give it "Assign action 1 to tap, action 2 to hold" for these buttons.

Could this plug into a allen n heath zed 10fx mixer board to launch effect that the zed 10fx already has

Unlikely

If the zed 10fx has a midi implementation (a glance at its manual it looks like it doesn’t) then you could maybe use a streamdeck->midi plugin to turn stomp->midi->mixer state. For example, this could probably be used on a behringer xr-18/x32, which do have midi implementations. I use a programmable midi guitar pedal to do external stomp to talk. It’s great but the Elgato would be way less faff to setup/change.

I work in home-based audio transcription and use a very similar 3-pedal model (it was also very expensive but I've had mine for almost 5 years now and it still works great, and I need it to work otherwise I don't, lol). Push to talk is something I could never be bothered with before because it felt so fiddly, but I can see a foot pedal like this being a real godsend 😅

As someone with multiple Stream Decks already (2 physical 15 button ones and one software one on my iPad)... Since I'm already in the Stream Deck ecosystem, the Stream Deck Pedal is very compelling for me, even with its significantly higher price point. The fact that I can manage all of this stuff within one piece of software, that already has an amazing amount of flexibility, just really appeals to me. The cheaper ones just seem harder to work with and not as useful, though definitely could do the trick depending on your use case. I'm in for a Stream Deck Pedal, eventually. Hopefully the build quality holds up.

I have been thinking about getting pedals specifically to be able have a foot pedal push to talk. I even looked at the IKKEGOL because it would do exactly what I needed if it was just push to talk. I'm not certain if I need the extra pedals, so I will have to reserve judgement especially when I only need to configure one button press for Discord push to talk.

I want to press foot pedal to unpause video recording & release to pause video recording in OBS Studio. Essentially, I would be creating a "push to record" feature. (like "push to talk" with video + audio, not just audio) Any ideas for a workaround?

Eeeeeeh, I don't think I'm really feelin' it? I get the impression that its versatility says more about the stream deck software than the pedals themselves when the asking price is more than a stream deck mini, and one of the strength of Stream deck IMO has always been the visual indicators before the muscle memory sets in (which is why some prefer it over mucking around with a second keyboard for editing, alongside nesting), something you don't quite have here. Oh, sure, it sounds great for recurring actions or PTT like you said, but 'keeping your behind-the-scenes out of view' just doesn't sound like a big deal I guess and then the asking price raises its head again? It might be the fact that I can do a bit of foot-jittering and kicking when I get into games but this sounds like a nightmare for me lol. Hope that the target audience finds it and gets some use. Thanks for showing it off, I'm glad I know these options exist all the same! Will keep it in mind for when there's a Twitch Foot Fetish meta though. That's bound to happen at some point.

This might sound crazy, but I would love to know if the pedals can "work" *without* the use of Elgato's software. In other words, if you press a pedal (again, without the software) does the PC register the input like a keypress?
@will-i-am2 жыл бұрын
why would u do that tho?? The software is free and you can do sooo much in it. U can set the buttons to act as a key press as well. No reason to not download it
@exergist2 жыл бұрын
@@will-i-am I definitely agree about the software, though I'm just trying to understand how "generalized" the pedal product is. In other words, it would be really slick if the pedal could trigger other things because it could send (for example) certain virtual key presses. I'd love to trigger VoiceAttack without also needing the Stream Deck software.

Lets face it, if you know what you're doing with scripts anyway, you'd just build your own arduino based pedal. $90 gets you a heck of a lot of options going DIY. The "only" reason to get elgato gear (other than the pure plug and play rather than DIY approach) - is the software.
@EposVox2 жыл бұрын

@sokoloft32 жыл бұрын
You could do this for cheaper with an arduino and any sort of pedal that is a momentary push button. I'd assume all are. Elgato accessories are way overpriced. I made a few diy streamdecks from a guide you can find from a search engine. I could make 3 of them for the price of the cheapest stream deck.
