Elgato's Facecam Pro is awesome for various reasons - review and setup

This is Elgato's FaceCam Pro. A serious pro-grade webcam that's aimed at streamers and content creators. It packs some serious specs, including 4K 60FPS capabilities, adjustable ISO, white balance and shutter speed, intelligent autofocus and a massive field of view.
Naturally it works with Elgato's Stream Deck products too (watch until the end to see it used with the Elgato Stream Deck Plus ( • Elgato Stream Deck+ Re... )) and it's fully customisable in Elgato's Camera Hub too.
Out of the box it might look a bit washed out, but with a few tweaks it looks magnificent!

The FaceCam Pro is not cheap, but it certainly is awesome. You need to tweak it to get it looking good, but then it has intelligent settings that can be auto adjusted or you can set it up to tweak it on the fly with other Elgato products. Highlights are definitely the little details like being able to tweak the colour balance to account for your lighting, so you can match the colour temperature and get a natural look.
The downside I found was the autofocus can be a little bit aggressive, which results in some wobble. But you can turn that off in the software and just set a specific distance for the focus and then it'll look great. I used the FaceCam Pro throughout the video so you can see how good it looks.

I can confirm a USB-A adapter does work, and it goes without saying that it does need to be USB 3.0...Happy to report that I don't need to use the adapter anymore tho since I upgraded my PC. Great review! I love my Elgato. I did end up buying a 3D printed cover for it from Etsy, I don't like webcams not having a cover.

I have the Kiyo Pro more than happy with just a 1080p camera does the job. £300 for a cam that has issues is crazy.

It would be great if Elgato could release a stand alone Gimbal for it's face cams that integrate with the camera hub software easily. So as soon as it is connected via USB port through the Gimbal you can then connect the gimbal to the back of you computer and have a great eco system to compete with the other webcams such as Insta 360 Link and Tiny Osbot Tiny 2 4K!

Mine sometimes tells me to switch the cable from 2.0 to 3.0 I usually unplug then plug it back in to fix the issue but should i get a different cable?

If you can only broadcast in OBS at 1080 x 720 how does this cam scale down? . I live in AK so my connection speed it lower.. Fiberoptic coming next sunmmer.

Am I the only one having constant issues with this camera when streaming and gaming? I’ve gone through massive troubleshooting with elgato and researching myself. Constant disconnects and lagging/skipping when gaming and using the virtual camera. Stay away from this camera until Elgato figures this out

Kiyo Pro Ultra is a slightly smaller Starvis sensor but its lens lets in more light to make up for that probably still gets better low light performance.

what a mistake of purchase from me. camera gets really hot and now had the red blink of death and no longer will focus, so everything is super blurry. for the last week elgato support has been yanking me left and right in support. should've just bought something else. $300 down the drain, !!!Buyer Beware!!!

I bought the camera and it works great, but DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET A USBC CABLE FROM ELGATO FOR OVER 5 MONTHS. IT TAKES A SPECIAL CABLE AND THEY'VE BEEN SOLD OUT. I WOULD CHECK IF THEY HAVE FIXED THEIR SUPPLY PROBLEM BEFORE BUYING

No special cable required. And it comes with a USB-C cable included so I’m not sure what you mean. You even say it works great. Can you clarify the issue you are referring to and why you are recommending not to buy?

A $300 webcam that has autofocus issues, this is not acceptable. I'm sure autofocus is one of the main reasons people want this camera, along with the resolution, frame rate, and effects capabilities.
