What is the reasoning behind taking calves? Seems you’d want them to grow for the coming years of harvesting?

Thats how the population is managed in Norway with quotas on all types of moose. If you only take grown animals you will end ut with a population that can't breed. If you dont take out the younger ones you will get a overpopulation and risk that they die from starevation or illness.

Thanks for the comment. We do hunting in multiple different ways really. this is just one of them. Loose dog is the classical scandinavian way. Spot and stalk is possible aswell. What do you prefer @Blaserman
