Lansdowne Road was their greatest concert and this was probably the most spellbinding number of the entire show. Andrea, Sharon, Jim, Caroline, Anto, Keith ... thank you for a simply beautiful performance from six oustanding musicians on the absolute top of their game.

This song's message is lasting, and it's unfortunate most people say they prefer rap music over masterpieces like these. The piano work is ace.

Ted Wrinch Very well written - are you a writer Ted?
@wrincht110 жыл бұрын
Thank-you, Lorraine Ashby- you're very kind! No, I just write what I feel and see. They are currently one of my favourite groups of musical artists, a re-acquaintance since my first when my children were young (we used to dance to Runaway!). I think they express something very profound through their deep connection to their Celtic culture and land; many of their other songs move me as deeply. Elsewhere I link 'Closer' with Tolstoy: "Tolstoy displayed an unusual capacity to empathise by stepping into the shoes of people whose lives were vastly different from his own. In the 1860s, he not only adopted peasant dress but began working alongside the newly emancipated labourers on his estate, ploughing the fields and repairing their homes with his own hands. For a blue-blooded count, such actions were nothing short of remarkable. Although no doubt tinged with paternalism, he enjoyed the company of peasants and consciously shunned the literary and aristocratic elite in the cities. Tolstoy believed you could never understand the reality of other people's lives unless you had a taste of it yourself." www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-30536963

Ted Wrinch You express yourself so well. I can relate to your comment very well - 'Runaway' - their first hit - my daughters and I used to sing along to that lovely song. I think there is something very special about the way their songs are so moving and I think it has a lot to do with their Celtic culture. I love Loreena Mckennitt, Clannad and Enya - they all have the same effect on me.

Clever upload - beautifully put together for a beautiful song. Love Andrea's hoarse impassioned 'closer' at 3.42, the trickly, rippling piano fills from Caroline - And that great classic rock guitar solo from 3.42 - 4.06 (the end) - I'm assuming it's from Anto Drennan but not sure about this - perhaps somebody can verify.
