As a kid, 11 I think I had a Portuguese Man of War wash onto the beach and the surf slung it's tentacles (I don't think they are really called tentacles) over my foot. We were on the island of Eleuthera in like 1975, no place to go, nothing to do but cry back then.
@DarronSmithBahamianMillionaire10 ай бұрын
@@saoirse5308 You were supposed to urine on it. It neutralizes the sting! Not the best treatment but better than nothing. Two years before my birth! Eleuthera has some great fishing. I am from South Andros and the fishing there is amazing! We have red snapper and grouper dying of old age!! Lol I am in Florida and from this video I ordered my super flukes to try for snappers!

Fantastic Mutton on that rig !!!! And the fact that you let the other legal ones go after keeping the first legal mutton....good on you, true sportsman. Tight lines, amigo.
@sprolyborn255411 ай бұрын
It's a hard thing to judge. All well and good when you're just trying to get enough for 1-2 people. If it's 3,4,5 people, it's gonna take more. Thing is, we wouldn't be able to tell that just from looking. All we'd see is some guy appearing to take more than he needs...
@EliasVFishing11 ай бұрын
@@sprolyborn2554I’d probably communicate that verbally if we had a lot of people to feed in that situation. I base what gets kept for me based on what’s needed for the day/week. Sometimes 1-2, occasionally a bunch, and sometimes none. I agree that I won’t pass judgment based on just a photo or video with no additional info. It’s also not really my business to know “how many people are being fed.”
@sprolyborn255411 ай бұрын
@@EliasVFishing oh yeah I wasn't trying to get at you or anything. You pretty well implied what was going on in this vid as you have in all the others. I'm just getting at the guy for basing his assumptions on what makes a good sportsman or not based solely on how few fish he keeps without any other context to go with it.
@adamyoung48011 ай бұрын
Aloha. After following this guy for what seems like decades, he takes what he needs! A true sportsman, and an awesome angler in a variety of situations/environments.

Hey Elias how did you set up your fish finder for your kayak? I got one for Christmas and wanna put it on my kayak for when I go offshore during the summer. But I don’t know how to set the battery and wires up so it won’t get wet when I launch in the surf. I’m launching from topsail and your the only person I’ve seen who launches from the surf with a fish finder.

I love your channel. I spent most of my adult life fishing eastern Long Island. Moriches, Shinnecock and the Peconics. I enjoy your videos from up north. Just a quick FYI. Years ago I was visiting a friend in the Keys. He lived there. The waters were loaded with man o wars. I was deathly afraid of them. He pulled up along side a group of them and picked one up. Freaked me out. Evidently, you can safely pick them up by the sail that is above the water. It is the tendrils that will hurt you. So, next time you encounter them pick one up on camera just to prove how brave you are. I'll be watching, LOL.
@ThatsStillUs11 ай бұрын
You are correct. I picked up over a dozen that way Wednesday at Bahia Honda state park that were drifting in around the swimmers. I’ve been stung by them three times as a diver. Not fun but I didn’t die or have to go to the hospital. Everyone reacts differently
