“It’s Eli happy.” When I see my daffodils come up next month I shall smile and think of you. Right now my purple “rememberance” crocus are coming up. First thing my city mom ever planted when she moved to the country. After her death I dug some up and put them by my front door. Now they and the loving memory that they bring of her, greets me at the door.

My little container garden (zone 11 US) struggles through summer, but during Fall-Spring it comes back to life. Surprisingly got a tomato plant to survive from one spring to the next. And just because I have a small setup, it brings me joy whenever I find something new: a praying mantis, a jumping spider (teeny baby), my seedlings sprouting, the few flowers I managed to keep alive and flower too. Just today I got excited seeing a single little peek of green from my Purple Balloon flower pot (it’s germ rate is super long 7-14 days). ❤️ No matter the size, the organization factor, your plant picks. Your garden is your joy. Let it surprise you with good things!

Had you asked about a video a month ago when we were 2 feet under snow my enthusiasm might have been a bit less. But as soon as I see anything poking out of the ground, I get so excited for all the potential in the next year! This is so relevant to most gardeners. So Friday I looked at the garden and it was a huge mess for such a tiny garden. So sat morning (yesterday) I got out and tidied up. Whilst I was out the positives were how tidy it looked, the radishes sown 10 days ago have germinated in my raised bed, the fruit trees I brought in Jan have started to produce green leafs. The greenhouse I have finally decided on my layout and organised it. Negative I lost all my grass over the winter due to doing work in the garden. Resolution. Buy and spread grass seed 😂. Happy spring. So excited for all the growth everyone is having. Laura

Great to remember everything isn’t instant! We have a new to us garden in our new home in South Ayrshire that has (artificial grass 🤭!) and much hard landscaping so will be getting to work after a summer here keeping a careful eye on where the sun hits first! I’d mentioned in another video I have my small walk in plastic greenhouse and my son just made me a potting table from pallets! I also made a raised bed from more pallets beside my greenhouse to pot on some veggies once they start. It’s going to be an exciting time in the coming months to see how everything works!

Love the video as always. My garden is full of daffodils and crocus and a forsythia is joining in the display. Buds on the cherry tree and lots of things popping up. I'm grateful for every single thing after coming out of winter. I go out every morning and check what's happening down in that soil! I then go to the back of the farmhouse to check on the allotment, garlic and spring cabbage doing well and even some kale survived over winter. Lots to be thankful for! Strawberries getting new leaves today. Keep those videos coming, I love watching you both, you make me smile.

We moved house 7 years ago, from a house with amazing soil, a truly gorgeous garden. The house we moved to is just so difficult to garden. The soil is awful. There is a shallow skim of soil then four miles deep of stone. I gave up…nothing seemed to thrive. How wimpy is that. But but but this year I have decided to rethink my expectations. I have built raised beds.. planned a completely different garden full of veg and things that don’t care about the problems. So I am a huge bubble of positivity. I have forgotten how to grow veg so your channel is helping me so very much. Thank you. Your garden is inspiring me. Today a sweet pea seed popped up and I planted some beetroot and I am sooooooo happy. Anyway, fighting the negativity here and winning 😀

Positives in our garden 🪴 I planted new tulips bulbs, daffodils, ranunculus and enenomes b4 winter. The daffodils are really lovely one variety is scented. I so enjoyed this video-between your garden and those of the contributors, I feel quite happy and inspired! My negative: all the work I still need to do in creating our new orchard section My positive: I successfully overwintered (and harvested except for mid Jan-mid Feb) spinach, lettuces, spring onions, bok choy, parsnips, carrots, and tatsoi in the US mid-Atlantic (Delaware) which is US zone 7a. We got down to 8F/-13C this winter! I used a combination of cold frames and frost blanket/fleece low tunnels for my raised beds.

We are heading to winter here in Australia. Floods have damaged most of my lawn and lower garden beds. The positive is the raised veg bed is blooming with greens, that love all the water. “ It’s awesome that we have a garden” Yes it is, I have to appreciate that. Thanks Eli 💕🏡 🥬

Yes I do remember you building your kitchen view garden bed and when those tulips bloom it’s going to look amazing. I love growing garlic and onions over winter because it’s a surprise when pulling to make room for my tomatoes and peppers. I get so excited to see how well they grew when I wasn’t looking. Plus the scent lingers in the soil to keep some pests away.

You know the stories of the first year we grew garlic right, in the bed that became the strawberry bed.... For a couple of years after the strawberries had a slight taste of garlic😂😂😂

Beautiful daffodils! You already have a lot of color and remember it’s only the beginning! I love spring and watching all the new growth popping up. Nature is wonderful and all the shades of green are marvelous! It makes me so happy! We are in Apopka, Florida and my amaryllis are gorgeous! Thanks, it's Autumn here 🇭🇲 & my first year of Butternut Pumpkin was pathetic, 6 pumpkins yielded 2.8kg & 4 were hail damaged due to catastrophic storms/floods. Although disappointing as my family yeild 20-40kg per a season, a friend reminded me .... I don't like pumpkin so having enough to make two lots of soup in Winter was all I wanted 🤣 For context my location is challenging. It's a courtyard sounded by 2 storey buildings & giant pine trees so my yeilds are always poor due to insufficient hours of direct sunlight but dammit I will be stubborn & refuse to accept the limitations of my location 🤪

I *loved* this video! Spring is one of my favourite seasons because everything comes to life. I have loved seeing the dormant hydrangea and clematis waking up and the bulbs I planted back in October popping up and blooming! I've had a few things failing that I wanted to plant (negative) but I'm not giving up (will try again next year) but so much is doing well in the kitchen (positive). I loved seeing Janette (hi, Janette!!) and everyone else. Lots of love to Mark (I'd love to see his garden, too). Fab video, as always, Eli and fantastic to see Kate again, too. Nagtive, garden borders have lots of weeds and have been neglected as still getting over covid, positive, my two flamingo trees are now full of tiny leaves so know they will look stunning again this summer. Another negative is I planted 28 ornimental grasses, all brown so not sure if they will all survive (cost a small fortune) but if they do it will look amazing, especially once i get my companion planst put in. Another nagtive grass looks a mess and needs a cut but dont have the energy, but plus side, just potted up 72 lavender plug plants, and have got a lemon, lime and orange tree on my kitchen windersill plus 3 other ornimental grasses that arrived as twigs barely showing a month ago and now are full of new very long leaves that make me so happy to look at. So in all garden looks rubbish but can see it coming together and have high hopes for a wonderfull summer display.

There’s nothing to it…. Just stand in the garden with a compass and it’ll tell you what way you are facing. In terms of the garden “facing” a way… stand with your back to the wall of the house

Loving the bluetits checking out bird boxes. Do you do anything in particular to attract them? I don't seem to get any birds interested in my bird boxes

we've made a bit of an effort with making sure there are different types of food and feeding areas in the garden to suit different types of birds just for encouraging birds into the garden but in reality, birds might be checking out the boxes but they won't use them. They aren't high enough or away from the bustle of the garden and aren't hidden enough. They are far too exposed. As I mentioned in the video, the boxes were only meant as ornaments, never actually intended to be used by the birds as there just isn't enough tree cover etc to encourage that sort of thing.

The best place to go for gardening advice is always your local gardening groups. Local is always best for advice but basically if you don’t want the plant it’s a weed. Weeds aren’t a species exactly, more that they aren’t part of our plan. They tend to be native species which thrive in your local, hence they are impossible to get rid of 😀😀

Negative: there’s been a very early white fly incursion. 😒 Positive: because my golden berries decided to overwinter (summer was hotter than usual), I’m now harvesting them in March! And giving a lot away so others can learn about physalis and keep the transplants I also foisted onto them a couple weeks ago. 😏 So all the white flies on the golden berries will be moot since I’ll be pruning those bad boys way back, and their new homes will disappear.
