So does the fourth level have to include personal suffering? It seems to me that most of the Saints had to endure physical and emotional pain to get to this degree. I believe for the most part God hands selects soul to get this gift and most of them are consecratied souls. I know of only one person who is lay person that I would say is living in the highest level. She lives with constant pain but offers it up for the spiritual healing of souls. She was offered this gift from God and she accepted it.

Really good question Pat. I am surprised that I am not asked more questions like this. I am of the position that the Divine Will is for everyone and not just the clergy. I am more aware of lay people living in the 3rd and 4th Degree than Priests which is only due to how many more lay people exists compared with the number of clergy. This being said I believe that it would be easier for a Priest to attain to an advanced level because they are dear to the heart of Jesus, they are consecrated, and they have the benefit of Religious formation which enables them to understand it better. Regarding suffering, Jesus mentions that the greatest sacrifice is to sacrifice one's own Human Will to exchange it for His Divine Will. For those in the 4th Degree, there is only God. Also, there is a difference between the sanctity of the Saints prior to the Divine Will and the sanctity of the those living in the Divine Will. This is described in a video called Sanctity of the Divine Will vs Sanctity of the Virtues which was published about 3 to 5 months ago.
