Not surprised at all this team was not supposed to complete in playoffs last year aswell. AND now they got EXPOSED as fluke chumps with even BETTER ROSTER.

Possibly they would have been out of the playoffs series last year too,as they had at least 2 russian teams above them in the standings.Regardless, having one of the highest budgets while they are the trophy holders, proved not to be enough for them. Actually, this year has been a little dissapointing for Efes and i am curious to see how they will perform in the future, if forced to operate on a lower budget. No extra chance for them this year, so i guess they probably "forgot" that in order to be in the play offs and to the F4, they have to go through the regular seasons as well.

Well, the moment I saw Clyburn and Zizic signings i said it's over,because they won it with worse team last year. But as it happens with most superteams it didn't work that well

Ataman should have waited for the match to finish to leave. He put himself above the team by doing this. I do get why he’s disappointed but he’s the head coach, should’ve held his emotions better

Exactly. And his actions were actually self-defeating: Now that the Fenerbahce fans know that they can have an impact on him emotionally, you can bet that the next game they will chant even harder. And other teams' fan will also start doing it. In fact, if memory serves, Partizan or CZ fans were yelling for many minutes "F** y** Ataman" just last month; as well as some shouts directed at him in Berlin (I don't speak German). Guess, he is not the most likeable person. On the flip side, EL can consider passing profanity regulations, such as giving power to the refs to empty the stands or playing the next home game behind closed doors. At home, and at the arena, I would like to be able to watch the game with my children and I would rather not have them exposed to such language.

Actually why efes out is about 1) Efes players did not contribute well enough this season. 2) Ataman made some mistakes in scout engineering and play organisation he choose . After all it is Ataman's fault this year.

I believe the reason Efes got knocked out partly lies in their performance these last few years. Efes always started the season with a bad record and managed to get their acts together towards the end and have long win series. Contrary to what most, if not all fans, and probably the team itself expected - It just didn't happen this year. Maybe they expected their two titles to win games for them, but lucky for us basketball fans, that's not how it works in Euroleague. You have to go on the court and give everything you got and get the W's. Even then, it looks like they will be missing the play off with just one game. Considering they lost 6 games this season by 3 or fewer points (2 of them in OT), they could easily be a contender for top 4. Especially if you count the losses against lower ranked teams such as Alba, Bayern (twice), and middle of the table teams directly competing for the last play-off spots Partizan and Baskonia, in all 4 games. What is quite interesting is their record against top 4 teams, either tied 1-1, or even got 2-0 (pending the R34 Monaco game). Again, this gives the impression that the team was extra motivated/prepared to play against the big name teams, and thought they would just manage against the rest, which was likely the reason of their downfall. All in all, did Efes play horribly bad this season? I think, no. The surprised reactions are mostly because they were expected to dominate the league for yet another season and they played just a little south of what would have been good enough. If you still aren't convinced, answer me this: Say you are Olympiacos or Real Madrid, and you finished the league in top spot. Would you be thrilled to match with a hypothetical 8th placed Efes, even with home court advantage?

Quite accurate diagnoses. Additionaly, this lack of motivation and arrogance are totally because of Ataman. He is terrible since 2022 euroleague final, lost every competetion since that. Best action for him and Efes would be seperating the roads apart.

Not easy to join Final Four 4 or 5 times in a row. Efes only joined 3 times in a row. (2019-2022) Fenerbahçe joined 5 times in a row. (2015-2019)

Ataman left because Fenerbahce asked for challange when difference in score was 17 points, not for swearing, he should have get used to fener fans as they dont like him. What swearing are you talking about? Fener fans were chanting "Use doping" and "take a timeout" referring his two infamous habits. His players were involved several doping cases in the past and he always got away without any punishment. And he is also known to take timeout as victory cigar at the end of the games he already won, just to humiliate opponents. He also pissed off the last year's finals when Djordjevic took a last second timeout. He sees no problem when he disrespects opponents but he cries like a baby when he is handled the same way.
