I think he's referring to the Decepticon version of the game. In the Decepticon version, Optimus Prime and all of his closest Autobot soldiers and allies are killed and the Rookie becomes The Fallen's new apprentice. Since The Fallen has the Matrix of Leadership to activate the Harvester, it's safe to assume he succeeds in destroying Earth's sun and getting the energon he needs to build a new army of more powerful Decepticons. The Decepticons pretty much end up killing the rest of the Autobots left over on Earth since their leader is dead. They then leave Earth to conquer other planets so they can get their energon to rebuild Cybertron. Without the Sun, all humans, animals, and plants on Earth slowly die and become extinct. To make things simpler, the bad guys win and all life on Earth dies.

Not gonna lie, in comparison to the first DS game’s story, the RotF story was degraded as much as its gameplay. Allies on both sides are just... there. They hardly do anything for you. Meanwhile, in the first game your character gets to interact with them, and in the Decepticons version you even get to see their personalities, which the movies never did. As for your player character, they feel like an absolute Mary Sue. They take on every one of the elites of the opposite side and get endless praised and are showered in riches. Hell, in the Deception version you get promoted to General and get sucked off by the Fallen. The original game’s character seemed like what his character would imply: a newbie who is fairly new to their cause. They only take down their opposite in a boss battle and help out with operations. Their allies do plenty of work that isn’t just background talk to be skipped during a conversation in the World Map. Honestly, the story for this game felt about on par with the actual movie or maybe even worse.

I couldn't say it better. I truly don't know why the creators didn't want to contnue with the same gameplay as in the first game. There wasn't any improve in this game at all. I was disappointed as well when I first had to play it expecting a free mode or more historical gameplay with other characters...

Absolutely agree. I was very disappointed that it doesn't have an open world. And that one mission in the autobot game where you have to protect a vehicle that moves so freaking slow was the absolute worst. Many missions of the second game sucked. Not that the first one didn't had it's problems. But there was so much more to enjoy that it was fine. This game on the other hand, while looking better in some aspects, is nothing more than a cash grab. Like many license games are. And that is sad because after the first game being such a blast you wouldn't thought that.

I mean these games may have sucked and that the ds version of Transformers from 2007 is way better (trust me i've played these versions of transformers as well), but unfortunately for me, these games were the first ever transformers games that I've ever played, and they formed my childhood, I played both millions of times and I even sometimes play them till this day. I dislike how in the 1st transformers ds game, in the autobot story, all of the Autobots including Prime, treat the player character like a child until towards the end of the story. That always rubbed me the wrong way and why I preferred the decepticon story far more. At least in the RotF autobot game they don't patronise the player character all the time

Stripe the Gremlin Another funny glitch in the last autobot mission, if you skip the dialog at the start of the mission, the decipticon who usually steals it will not steal it and not run away. Mission accomplished. Optimus gets the Matrix of Leadership.

Hilariously enough during the autobot campaign on the final level in Egypt, if you just skip the intro cutscene to that mission the Decipticon and the Matrix will still be there. Though while you can't interact with it, you can kill the Decipticon and it won't do anything to you and you can get a good look at the Matrix.

He was the original choice to voice The Fallen in the movie. But I guess scheduling conflicts got in the way due to his involvement in voicing Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars at the time. After that, they decided to go with Tony Todd for the film instead.

Mr.Money No because they couldn’t bundle the Autobots and Decepticon Campaigns together like they did with the first and second one for consoles. The third one for consoles just made it so that it shifts factions for story telling. It starts with Autobots. From Bumblebee, to Ironhide, then to Mirage. Then it switches to Decepticons, starting with Soundwave, then Starscream, and finally Megatron. Then it finishes it by switching to Autobots, finishing with Optimus.

I love the drastic contrast; Autobots campaign; Your character is a stand-up charismatic hero Supportive friends the moment the Autobots meet you, They consider you one of theirs' before you've even gotten a vehicle mode, And the general tone is a hopeful conquest to stop the bad guys, Decepticon campaign: Your character is a fucking psychopathic bloodthirsty murderer who wants to kill something the moment he gets to earth, The Decepticons are total assholes to you despite being an ally to them who is clearly against the Autobots, Even after you get a vehicle form, they literally say "You're not one of us yet" and even after address you by your low rank or insults, And the general tone is dark as hell.

Decepticons are strong and individual. They accept you only if you are strong and that happens throughout the history. Starscream at the end is quieter, Grindor counts with you to revive Megatron, etc. They just don't express it like the autobots. Decepticons are cold in general terms. You either do your duty or die like in the final stage.

I will forever have the biggest nostalgia boner for this game. I have a vivid memory of grabbing the decepticons version off the shelf while a few other kids were looking at it in awe. I sadly never had the chance to play the 2007 game which everyone says is miles better so I was stuck with this one but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it haha

Here's what I'm confused about: in the first Decepticon campaign (as in the Transformers DS: Decepticons), Megatron kills Optimus ("With your death, no one will stop me"), and then kills Starscream with the help of another Decepticon. Brawl also lives in the first Decepticon campaign, because he defeats and kills Ironhide. Bumblebee should also be dead, as Starscream destroyed him in order to get the Allspark. Megatron, apart from Brawl, is the only Decepticon to live in the end So, how is it that Startscream is alive, Megatron dead, and Bumblebee, Ironhide and Prime are alive in *this* story?

Unfortunately, the decepticons game is only a different end which is not included in the original story of TF ROTF DS games. I also would like to see something similar with this dark end, but the creators fucked it up. :(

When I first played this game I was like "what the hell wasn't Starscream dead and Megatron alive ??" Then I saw the movie, which is a shame because the plot of the first two games were way better than this one

Yeah, I think that as well. I believe that with Starscream dead and Megatron alive it would have given more interest to play and to create a pallarel version of the decepticons without repeating levels with the autobots.

Elio Sejano Also they recycled the models from the first games, very confusing for players who haven't seen the movies. It's like Starscream was revived and repaired somehow and forgot that he killed Blackout, Barricade and heavily damaged the rookie (who Megatron later kills), Grindor seems to be oblivious that Starscream annihilated his twin, and Megatron surprisingly died and was disposed of some time after the events of the first game. WHAT THE HELL

I think I now what exactly happened... They took the history of the first movie and used it as plot. The first game of the decepticons is an alternative ending which they didn't used thinking about the ROTF game. They served the autobots game without counting with the decepticons ds game. The creators had a great idea of games but they destroyed it with the second one trying to improve it somehow.

Elio Sejano They should've continued with the decepticons plot and follow the autobots one, cause the decepticons one was spot on for a transformers movie, no human drama bullshit, just robots, treason, fights.... Even Barricade kills Sam in the autobots game, he transforms, destroys his car (heavily implying he was inside it) and says "I got what I was looking for, try to get me if you want it back"

@@eliosejano to put it in simple terms I think I want to try to merge the DS games with the PlayStations. Turn them into full length movies but not everything will make the cut cause there are some things that contradict one another.

The changes I would have made to the game is that there should be free play mode for a mission icons or main mission mode also like the console version you can see which bot is fitting for the mission. And the locations should be just like the movies. Shanghai Tranquility Deep Six Philadelphia and Egypt. Also the controls should be like the first movie DS game. The mission tutorial should start in Tranquillity and for Pete shake ditch the triangles above their heads and replace Barricade with Long Haul.

I totally agree with you. i don't know if it was a matter of enough money or not but this game could have been so much better. Maybe even controlling Davastator or protecting him in the decepticon version and fighting against him in the autobots'.

This game was disappointing. The main character of both sides are like an anime protagonist. A literal protoform killing the main Autobots/Decepticons like they are *nothing* just baffles me. The Decepticon side doesn't make a lot of sense either. In the movie, Megatron was revived and he fought Optimus at the end. Here, he was revived for the sole purpose of getting deranked from his general status of the Decepticons. Like fken what??? The fact that you cannot play as any of the main cast on the main missions just completely blew my mind. When the last mission was unlocked where we retrieve the Matrix of leadership, logically, Megatron should send either Starscream or Grindor to retrieve it. But no. It HAS to be the recruit. The first games for the NDS were amazing. Free roam. Multiple maps. Multiple vehicles. Play as the actual main cast. This game was a straight up joke. Boring, repetitive and frankly, just not as what many had expected.
