Eclipser 1 -- stratospheric flight in Total Solar Eclipse
www.stiintasite...
A Romanian-Australian scientific team successfully launched a stratospheric high-altitude unmanned balloon during the 14th November 2012 Total Solar Eclipse (TSE). Unique images and videos from the most spectacular astronomic event of the year were taken from the near out of space, along with very usefull athmospheric data from the eclipse cone.
The space balloon, named Eclipser 1, was launched in N-E Queensland, Australia, from the outback, 230 miles away north-west from city of Cairns, in the early morning of 14th November (5:21 AM, local time). Eclipser 1 had on-board photo-video equipment, but also an APRS telemetric and GPS systems for the live tracking of the flight and scientific sensors.
The mission of Eclipser 1 was to fly in the cone of TSE and hit an altitude of 25 km during the full totality phase of Eclipse (6:37 AM, local time) for catching, photo and video, the climax of the astronomic event. After the TSE, Elipser 1 continue to rise until burst, 36,9 km altitude - the third place in high-altitude balloons Australian flight from all times.
The team responsible for this experiment was composed of :
Catalin Beldea (RO), project leader, eclipse chaser, amateur astronomer
Florin Mingireanu (RO), Aerospace engineer, scientific researcher at Romanian Space Agency ROSA
Marc Ulieriu (RO), Editor-in-Chief of Stiinta & Tehnica -- the oldest popular science magazine in Romania and the organizer of this experiment
Adrian Florescu (RO), radio tracking specialist
Joe Cali (AUS), Legislative compliance, protocols, approvals and liason with CASA and Air Services Australia Air traffic control in Cairns and Brisbane, logistics support
Howard Small (AUS), radio tracking specialist
Samantha Scafe (AUS), radio tracking specialist
The same Romanian team is responsible for two succesfull stratospheric flights, in Eastern Europe, Romania: Stratospherium I ( • Zbor stratosferic STII... a space balloon which reached 35,4 km / 116.155 ft) altitude in October 2011, a record for Central and Eastern Europe and also the first space balloon which took tremendous photography of Romania from near out of space) and Stratospherium II ( • Stratospherium II 30 km / 98400 ft) altitude in August 2012).
The Eclipser 1 experiment was organized by Stiinta&Tehnica Magazine together with ROSA and powered by Duracell.
14 noiembrie 2012, N-E Australiei, Queensland.

Wait...where is the moon? It just disappears after it passes in front of the sun? Why?? If the moon reflects the sun's light, then shouldn't we be able to see it reflecting in the proximity of the sun's light? And what about the hot spot on the earth under the sun? Like it's a heat lamp above a counter top. That would mean the sun is not billions of miles away. *Sigh* Not what I expected to see, but still... great footage.

If this was a car, the earth is out the driver's side (for cars that drive on the left) and the moon would be off towards the front maybe slightly more left (passenger side). It is still pretty far away from ISS. ISS is 340km above earth, the moon is 384,000 km away! Remember ISS, the Earth and the moon are all moving objects so a somewhat stationary camera can't be expected to pick all these up in one shot.

When my club designed our NSE payload & ascent system, we considered a rotation stabilization system based on a gimbal locking gyroscope, but decided it would have to be either too heavy, or use too much power. Has anyone else tried to address this problem?

The sun's corona emits too much light for the overexposed camera. If the camera had a dark lense and adjusted aperture, then yes, our moon would have been more visible. Thankfully they didn't do that though, because we wouldn't have been able to see the long shadows casted onto Earth, nor the clouds and terrain below. A dark filter would have made for a boring video IMO.
@markw1791
@markw1791 7 жыл бұрын
No the video is real, its just the moon is not there. I don't care what they say. If you cant see the moon from the earth and from the side, then it isn't there because you should at least be able to see it pass by.

This video shows how the surface of earth is a convex sphere, no wait, now its concave like a bowl. Oh, I get it, they are using a fisheye lens so that when the center of the lens is above the horizon the surface of earth is bent down on the outside, and when the center of the lens is below the horizon the surface of earth is bent up on the outside. So, when the center of the lens is level with the horizon the surface of earth is a plane. Oh, no, that cannot be true, so I cannot trust my eyes and I will just have to believe what my first-grade teacher told me how earth is a sphere.

#Islam is the real and true religion and why I say this because #Allah says to us humans and jinns that " Indeed we have helped you by making the earth flat for your own ease No Jinn or human can cross the boundary of sky and are not capable of and we have made the sun and moon circling each other and neither is of capable to catch the other but still so many of you don't thank "
