She's got great feel. She plays delicately yet confidently. She's got massive control over her velocity too.

Agree, I really dig her feel. I can hear some Jimmy Chamberlin in her playing here. Like Jimmy, she has a kind of airiness to her playing, especially when playing ride grooves. I think it comes from a combination of note placement, sound choices and also having a relatively light touch. Great stuff!

@@christophegragnic8681 Sounds slick :) What does it mean though? I mean it - I know it's something about talent but what do you mean by that?
@christophegragnic8681 Жыл бұрын
@@thrashingpanic When you see something, it's only the shadow of the «real» thing. If you see the shadow of a horse, it may be something more special: a zebra. So when you see a YT video where someone demonstrates something don't narrow your thoughts too early, she may have many other talents.
@thrashingpanic Жыл бұрын
@@christophegragnic8681 Oh, ok. I thought it might be something about not judging a person and their history when you can only see a little fragment of them, not knowing what's behind - here it would be about not appreciating the amount of work she did and just saying "yep, she's talented".. But this is going almost to the Plato's Cave 😉in a way, so I like your zebra more. Thank you 🙂

I don't really get her as a drummer. The things she does on Instagram are not really my thing. Like high quality videos with lots of sampling and looping. BUT she obviously enjoys what she's doing and she's inspiring other young people to maybe pick up the sticks and start learning the drums and for that I highly respect and admire her.

@frankswarbrick75622 жыл бұрын
I'm not a drummer (came here just for Elise!), but I have a question. If you are hitting the same drum (snare, for example), does something like "R L L R R L" sound significantly different from "R L R L R L"?
@LearningDrummerSam2 жыл бұрын
It usually does but if you can make them sound the same then you may as well debut as a pro drummer because its deceptively difficult
@Sterlings_End2 жыл бұрын
Usually drum rolls come out sounding different since they can have an entirely different velocity and cadence to how the sticks interact with the drums. But as Anika Nilles and many others have shown, you can alternate between singles R L R L and doubles RR LL and have them be indistinguishable between one another!
@drumken2 жыл бұрын
and if you get these different sitckings on the drum set, than you do get different musicality, fill sounds and stuff. Learning rudiments opens up for new ideas and music, making you even more open handed.

Note: When you change it from the first duple-based example to triplet-based it’s no longer a 6-stroke roll. The first example IS a 6-stroke roll. Everything else Is triplets with different stickings.

Yes, exactly what Drum Channel needed.... some good old clickbait. Let's masterclass with someone who can barely keep a sloppy drumming sort of steady. That's exactly what new generations crave to be inspired by. No hate on Elise, just the truth.

Everything drumming wise is great! (Kinda) no offense but it's a little bit upsetting (kinda) to see for a (kinda) non English speaker how the language is (kinda) downgrades with all those "kind of" additions to it :)))
