It feels like moving into a new house, and moving in all over again. The renovation is finally over and it's time to decorate the brand new space. I buy the biggest essential items for the new space and get going on all of my design ideas. I hope that you enjoy watching me unpack my stuff and have fun decorating and enjoying my roof windows.

Elise - a little advice from a professional furniture painter... If you do paint the bench, be sure to use a shellac-based primer first. Knotty pine is a huge bleeder. You'll have brown circles everywhere there's a knothole if you don't. Water-based primers don't work as well as shellac. There are a lot of nay sayers in the comments, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you do. 🧡

I rarely read other comments unless there's a lot of likes -- such as this one. Otherwise it would be a full-time job defending this sweet, intelligent girl from all the jealousy in the comment section. It's mystifying that people feel the need to behave so small-mindedly. I hope Elise doesn't read them either. She's a grown ass woman living her own life and she's had quite the journey. Good advice on the primer. I wish my mother would take that advice because it would save me a lot of work afterwards.😅

Bang on about the shellac base. I used the wrong base 25+ years ago on some shelving. Several paint colours later and the knots still show.

I think the big mirror would look good on the wall behind the olive tree. Hanging crossway, for maximum impact. The sunlight would bounce off the mirror throughout the whole space , plus the reflection of the garden in it would be breathtaking.

One thing I enjoy most about your videos, Elise, is watching your taste and style evolve. Over the years, I have seen your home go from very young bohemian to sophisticated, and classic, yet the bohemian is still present in little touches. I admit to being a bit shocked when you showed us your new table and bench, but I have learned to trust your vision and while I don't always see where you're going I always love what you achieve when you arrive. I cannot wait to see how you put your "new" dining room together, no doubt with perfect Elise-flare. Brava, Elise! Brava!

The easiest method I’ve found is to place a paper towel on a baking sheet lined with tin foil, place object on….in this case…candle holder upside down for wax to run out, place in very LOW heated oven. Wax will melt into paper towel which you can toss, or keep as fire starter. Wipe object clean with paper towel. Easy peasy, and you can do multiple objects at once.

First I thought: no way with this rustical bench, because the huge goldenframed mirror always gave me an impression of a vintage New York style diningroom, somewhat artdeco. But I am sure you will turn it into a very beautiful cosy place. The olivetree is so pretty and gives me mediterranian vibes. Can't wait to see what it looks like at the end of the decorating process! 😍

I think I feel similar to many other people in the comments. First the corner bench seemed quite small, but then the olive tree appeared and I remembered that you have a vision and that it will work in the end. Please don't let anyone tell you what to do or not to do with your home. You live there every day, it's supposed to be your comfort zone. And honestly, if you end up not liking something (eg. the colour) then, well, change it again. Lots of hugs.

Elise you are quite amazing in all things you tackle and I’m very proud of you as if you were my daughter. You’re brave in your color choices and I have no doubt your dining area will be beautiful when you finally decide on the right color for the bench. The olive tree is lovely and the thrift store pieces are so lovely. That vase with the beautiful colors was nice and would go with your color scheme. The painting is fresh, the candle sticks I would have purchased too. You have beautiful taste. This is your home, you do what you want to do and don’t let negative or others opinions detract from your visions for what you want to do. The nice thing about thrift shopping is that if something doesn’t work out or you get tired of an item, you can always sell or donate it back and get something different. Enjoy your weekend and also relax too. You deserve a moment of being still. Peace and love to you Elise ❤❤❤.

Can’t wait to see how it all comes together ❤ I love that you try new things - and especially when it is out of the comfort zone of some of your viewers, bringing extra drama to the final reveal. I was so hopeful for that Mexican sunset … but it did end up too pink and drab when dry. The final colour you showed is warm and bright - I can see it working. If you have a bit of fabric that is the exact colour that you want a lot of places can match it perfectly. Have a fun weekend and week with further transformations. Beautiful swallow hook ❤

It’s looking very cozy, although I must say I’m surprised you went so casual. I expected a larger, slightly more formal dining room vibe! Does this little table open up to accommodate your friends and family for holidays, etc.?? Those skylights are EVERYTHING! Your vision for them was spot on. They really change the entire front area. 🤎

I wanted a solution right under the skylight, so I can enjoy the windows. The table is the old one, so it's just without the two extention pieces right now, but I'm not sure I'll keep it tho :)

I really love the wooden bench! I personally would stain it deep walnut but for your style a soft green color with dainish flower motif would be so pretty ❤

I think the last sample had a nice tint of orange to it. You don't want too orange. My mom painted her kitchen with a brighter orange and put up wallpaper on one wall. This was ages ago. I teased her and said people were going to call the fire department because it was so bright and orange looking, they might think it was on fire.

The corner bench has picnic table vibes. Knotty pine is a beast to paint but I appreciate your confidence in transforming it into something lovely. I hope it works out.

Sweet Elise your remodeled space is beautiful. Decorate with things you love and enjoy. Don't listen to all the negative comments. If you love the table thats what matters.

The new corner is giving ‘granny chic’.... it's giving ‘country core’ ... it’s giving ‘kolonihavehus’ more specific ‘Winnie’ 😍 I’m excited to see your vision coming to life ❤️

Everything you do always turns out nice. Thank you for sharing. I can see elements of art deco and mid century modern and 70s boho. It will all come together nicely

I am definitely getting 70's /early 80's vibes from your corner bench and round table. We used to have similar when we were young. I love that it has storage. Above our table and benches we had a pull down ceiling light which was like a dome, very 1970's. If you google "1970's retractable pull down ceiling lamp shade light" you will see some like it. 😀💕

I like the natural pine but if you decide to paint it, use a good primer.

Your dining room vision is very intriguing! I can't see it yet, but I do like your cocktail space. This was a nice video because you have such pretty things and it's fun to see your arrangements. That poor plant on your mantle! I hope she's happier now!
