For the units that can only attack at range, you gotta give em a bigger arena... It isnt a very good display when the units are cornered and cant even try to correct their distance.

after berbers my favorite civ to play with.. not necesseraly because of the boyars (which are pretty great in castle age imho, rip knights) but i really like the druzhina halbs (cheap but strong) and discount siege, making for a well priced army..

Omg, I once played the Slavs and did I _LOVE_ using the Boyar! Didn't even touch any Stable units, the Boyar was my only cavalry! But the Halberdiers with Druzhina were amazing, I could save up all my Gold to spend on Boyars and Trebutchets while also massing a very strong army!

@@MrDibara great to hear! perhaps you'd like, like me, to try massing heavy scorpions and using stand ground mode + attack move on them, put some halbs/champs in front/side, works really well both in defence and offense, as long they dont have any long range units (like janissaries / bombard cannon /longbowmen / korean onagers) .. but then again you could always build rams to redirect gunpowder/archer fire and boyars vs siege

@@MrDibara some guidelines i could give you: - castle age boyars, while buying barrack techs - imperial age, save up for druzhina tech - post imperial age, buy heavy scorpion tech bonus advice; if you play teams, try to ally with a berber player so you can handle archer opponents better (elite genitour) if you havent got the resources to upgrade to heavy scorps

@@nevem526 Teutoni v AoE 2 reprezentujou Svatou říši římskou. České knížectví/království bylo součástí svaté říše římské od roku 1002. Nemluvě o tom že tohle bylo několik stovek let před Benešovými dekrety, takže na území Čech, Moravy a Slezska bylo německy mluvících požehnaně důsledkem "Velké kolonizace" pohraničí. Yeah, which is unbalanced since boyars are a castle unit and therefore harder to mass, not to mention more expensive than paladins (same amount of food, but 5 gold more than paladins). What the hell is the point of creating an expensive tanky cavalry unit that still gets beaten by a slightly less expensive and more accessible tanky cavalry unit? Also, teutonic paladins aren't even the only paladins that beat the boyars, the frank paladins win too

Boyar = Low peirce armor but high melle armor (Only good in casle age) Knight/paladin line = Not too much but but not too low armor(both peirce and melle) Boyar beats the knight line in casle age but paladins are 10x more supirior in imperial age

Boyars destroy paladins with equal numbers. Their base armor got increased to 8 (from 6), so paladins don't stand a chance.

have you actually played them in a real game? imho they shine really well in castle age, giving me confidence in surviving castle age without much trouble.. in post imp i tend to ditch the boyar for druzhina halbs/champs and heavy scorps, unless some heavy cav is needed to deal with siege and such

@@Specoups yes, this is especially true if you prioritize the armor upgrades, knights have trouble denting that armor but get hit hard themselves (i.e. opponent sends 7 knights and you only need like 4 boyars to counter them)
