Now I see why you said this video was taking ages to complete. Is the first role-playing + tutorial I have ever seen! I just turn to exo in the bubble when the mood takes me, so my rank in that is pretty low, though it is a relaxing change when I do pick it back up. I got my fleet carrier just for the sake of having something different to do in the game, but once you get you find it would be hard to do without, though I do wish FDev would rebalance them with less upkeep, a 1000ly range and lower tritium consumption (plus a bartender who does not have an attitude problem).

I find with alot of those guides, the information is presented so fast that I have to rewatch sections 6-7 times to absorb the information, so I thought I would try a slower pace.The problem was how to slowdown the information presentation and I decided on more of a classroom kind of format.

I added "Landable" to the search criteria. If that was in the video I apologize I must have missed that. I was getting a lot of planets that met the other criteria but you couldn't land on them.

You, of course can change the criteria to meet your needs. Just remember not to add too many criteria, I know landable sounds important, but like I said in the video alot of these systems only have the first couple of planets autoscanned... so in those types of systems, you just eliminated all the systems that don't have the first couple of planets landable. On the other hand its not like there is a shortage of stars to search 🙂

@@RaineDearGames-jx4zb That's fine, it's not a problem. Since your channel is new and you're just starting out, it'll take time to actually get things going. I don't really know how exactly the algorithm works, but there are several factors KZbinrs pick up along their journey, as long as they don't give up 😁 Nothing starts out easy. Also the video length is a factor. For example, I'm watching the video in 3 different sessions because it's long. I do like it honestly, especially the hidden humorous bits that got me laughing, and the hidden surprises for us who watched through 😉 but you might also try making another 8-10 minutes video to summarize the content and present the gist in a fun dynamic way. This will surely grab the rest of the people. I like that you've got great ideas, and I'm finding the content really helpful, so I'll be tuned for more. Cheers 🍻

Thanks to your video, I have my fleet carrier. My rate was 2B credits for 20 green blobs which took about 8 hours of game time each. Not quite the rate you saw, lots of dead systems, then 3 in one system some time. But your technique works, thanks.

What to do in elite..... Buy a stock standard asp explorer. Add a fuel scoop and then go fly over 200 jumps with no engineered mods on it and go fly to some fleet carrier called 'Darkstar'. Mission acomplished. I feel knackered... now I need sleep.... tomorrow go find this startum...stuff. 😫

Well it still has to beat the jumprange of your previous ship 😉My next video is going to start on the subject of gathering engineering supplies... so good timing. You should look into getting yourself a "pre- engineered" size 5 FSD from a tech broker, you will need a few engineering supplies first... but it is probably the best upgrade you can do for your Asp and can be used in your next ship, which should either be a Python or Krait Phantom 🙂

I have found plenty of Stratum on single Biological planets. I don't bother with the SRV onboard. The courier lands almost anywhere. I don't worrying about distance. I lift off, go to full throttle. Then throttle back as soon as I hit full speed (with landing gear down), look at the floor & that is always far enough. I try to go on a single bearing. If I notice Bacteria is co-located (it often is) I flick around on a back baring to get them as a Brucey Bonus. I have noticed that Stratum doesn't seem to like it being too flat. I now aim for the border of smooth & a little rougher. Stratum seems to like this margin. The minor shift in terrain from smooth to a little rougher.

I bought a Courier to build for this purpose, just haven't gotten around to finishing it off 😁seems like the ideal ship for this purpose... I'm still putting an SRV on it though... 'cause I like driving around 🙂

Dav's Hope only as a right of passage, I get them into a single purpose Asp Scout with a mining Limpet Controller for High Grade Emissions pretty quickly.

YOu should use an overlay *EDMC overlay and EDRecon to help you find stuff, it'll tell you when you are out of the 500/800/200 meter range for your samples

Nicely done. When stratum is way away from the main star ,chances are they won't be there. At least that has been my experience. I have hit as many as 5 with stratum , nice.

Yes temperature plays a role, but not something you want to filter for, too many unscanned planets will be eliminated from search results 🙂 glad you enjoyed.

As to other lifeforms, some of them are valuable as well, I usually set my cutoff point around 5 million base value, unless there is alot of it in the landing area. My rule is this, if it is easy to collect and doesn't take too much time to collect them, then I do. I try not to get too carried away chasing after hard to find Fungoids for instance in the mountains, because for me it ends up getting frustrating and takes the fun out of it, but everyone will have their own idea of fun, happy hunting and o7 Commander 🙂

For the later update that has the changes to Powerplay, I for one am going to make sure I have all the special modules, that I have my eye on, before the changes come. I don't have Cytoscramblers yet, so those are on the list for sure... let the pledging begin 🙂

I have a question. I was a novice explorer and last time i played was few years ago, and it still was ED:Horizons. Now i want to try to play ED again, but here is the thing... I stopped playing when my explorer-fitted DBX was about halfway to Colonia. And i don't know what to expect from ED:Odyssey. I figured i'll have to come back to bubble to buy and try new content, am i right? Or just die in the void with lots of exploration data on me and start over.

I can switch back and forth between Horizons and Odyssey and my ship is in the same location between the two versions, now I'm not sure if that is so during the actual upgrade process... but I would think so? So, you should be able to upgrade and just carry on your merry way in your DBX 🙂

If you just wanted to acquire an Artemis suit so you can do Exobiology on your way to Colonia, there are quite a few fleet carriers out in the void that have Pioneer supplies onboard, you can try searching on Inara to find one that might not be too far from where you are, hope this helps 🙂

A couple of Planets and you should be able to buy an Asp Explorer, then everything will be easier. I would wager there are things about the game you know, that I do not. Like you said in your comment, that is what makes this game so great, after years of playing there are still alot of things to discover and different ways to do things and play. 🙂I think my next series of videos will probably focus on new players starting out, so many of them are lost and might give up on the game before they give it a fair chance... I know I came really close to quitting many years ago when I first started, because the learning curve was so steep... I don't really agree with Fdev's decision to start new players out in a system where everyone has access, unlike before when we started out in a protected system. Of course gankers have moved in to prey on new players, I don't see the enjoyment these people seem to get out seal clubbing new players. I recently went to Chamberlains Rest, to film some footage for an upcoming video and I really think Fdev made a mistake not having a protected system. Elite Observatory is the main tool, it uses the voice assistant voice from your Windows, the other tool is a plugin for the Elite Observatory called BioInsights, it examines the potential life on a planet and gives you values and collection data while on the planet 🙂

There are alot of ways to make money, but none as easy and as risk free as this one that I am aware of. if you are willing to take some risk, combat mission against Thargoid spires, can reportably pay up to a billion credits an hour, but I wouldn't recommend it for a somewhat new player (judging by your post on another video) Thargoid combat is kind of a specialized niche. Passenger runs for Robigo mines can pay but it gets boring after awhile, the bonus is you can get some engineering materials at the same time, you need a fast ship rigged out with passenger compartments... lots of videos out there detailing proper ship builds and technique. Sniping kills and bounties from the cops in a high danger resource extraction sites (high security system) can pay a lot and builds your combat rating too, I've made millions in minutes doing that (while flying an unmodified starter sidewinder ship, no less) the trick is be sure to scan your target ship first before attacking them, even if the cops are already shooting at them, also be sure none of your stray shots hit the cops, or you will be one with a bounty on you... you must scan the pirates first to reveal their wanted status. Also if your ship isn't a great combat ship, or if your combat skills aren't great don't attack anyone until after the cops start attacking them first... best bet is to find a large group of security ships and fly around the resource site with them and attack whoever they attack (after scanning of course) some of these bounties can be a million plus each and they go down quick, with the cops on your side... you don't even have to get that many hits on the target ship to qualify for the bounty 🙂pulse lasers are your best bet weapon wise for engaging NPC pirates, as you don't need to replenish your ammo. When you have had enough, or when your ship is damaged too much to continue (if you die you lose your bounties, so don't die) travel to a station in same system and turn in your bounties for credits. Mining can still pay pretty decently, not as good as the low temperature diamond mining craze of a few years back (500 million an hour used to possible) the current meta is laser platinum mining (kinda boring, but whatever... it's money🙂 ) lots of videos out there on how to do it. My favorite way to mine is still core mining, there is something special about cracking open an asteroid with explosives (and the sound effects are really nice) you can still make hundreds of million an hour mining, look for a resource or mineral that is in short supply and paying well using Inara.cz website (systems in boom or expansion need certain minerals and pay highly for them) then use the search nearest---> bodies to find the nearest source of the minerals you want... try not to have to make more than a couple of jumps from your mining site to the selling point, pirates will try and interdict you, so be prepared to deal with that, also when you are leaving your mining site and are loaded up with valuable minerals the pirates might scan you... so be prepared to fight or leave quickly. anyway these are a few idea on how to make money relatively quickly, good luck Commander 🙂

I am glad you found the informative parts of the video to your liking. As to the story parts, number one, as stated in the video it is a story. The main character isn't doing these things to Bobbi in order to degrade or humiliate, without giving too much away... Bobbi has a story arc and her character needs some "tough love" in order to progress. Think of it as a teaching narrative, some people that play Elite complain about this or that aspect of the game... people to this day still complain about not being able to earn enough credits, when in fact credits couldn't be easier to make... as shown in the video. These players, much like Bobbi need to be taught how to survive and prosper in Elite... Anyway I hope, this helps explain some of the story elements in the video and hope you continue to find the informative parts of my videos interesting and to your liking. 🙂

I made another comment on this topic only to discover this. Well, in my opinion, the length and having some "unnecessary" fun parts themselves are not much of a concern. Sure, this vid is kinda extreme, but still. The point is it was not convincing to viewers that those parts were worth the time watching. Let me put it in this way. If watching a vid is shopping for an item, the merit could vary a lot: getting information, being entertained, enjoying the visual, and so on. However, the cost is rather simple: the time you should be remaining focused. Just like any item, the price wouldn't be a problem if the merit exceeds the cost. The pesky part is, when you watch a streaming video, you speculate and figure out the merit of it as you pay the cost - and whenever you can save your budget by stop watching it. It's not like other goods that you can't salvage your already spent money simply by not using it anymore. That's the most important part of "product design" in videos like this. Sorry for my long comments. I wish this was not an unwanted backseating. I admire your hard work to edit this much length of a video, putting some characters and narratives not to make it another flavorless piece of tutorials. I see your channel is rather new, and this is one of your first videos. Thus, I leave my feedback: I want you to keep your unique style and enjoy the passion of creation. The vast majority of people do like it and find it extremely helpful... ask yourself how many hours have you wasted bumbling around on the darkside in Elite doing things the wrong way... and compare that to an hour and a half to learn something useful that will save you a bunch of time in the end. @@MiZtErNiCe The "narration" you are referring to is actually just a voice assistant linked to a plugin that I consider essential to doing exploration, it's called Elite Observatory with the BioInsights plugin... it isn't saying anything overly relevant at the time the music is playing, just calling out the credit value of the lifeform. I explain the use of this later on in the video. BTW the music only lasts for the first 4 mins. the rest of the video is music free, hope this clears up any confusion 🙂

The Elite Observatory, to my knowledge doesn't have a digital authentication certificate, so is likely to set off a warning with your antivirus. Just make sure you are getting it from the original author and not someone elses site and you should be good. Here is a link to the original authors github page github.com/Xjph/ObservatoryCore/releases the plugins for it that I would recommend, would be the bioinsights and evaluator, which can be acquired here edjp.colacube.net/observatory of course it is up to you should you choose to ignore a warning from your anti-virus, all I can say is I have used the programs without issue so far. The programs aren't strictly necessary, but the process will be slowed down quite a bit, as you will have to detail surface scan every high metal content planet with life in order to find the Stratums... at least that is until you get as good as the plugin at analyzing the F.S.S. data on your own.
