Very useful on a shielded Corvette AX build. Especially when you run modshards, meaning a combo of minor overheating when firing plus the caustic sinks can very quickly eliminate caustic damage, making up for the difficulty in outrunning missiles. The biggest boon these have too is that they can be engineered, increasing their ammo count is very, very useful.

when using multiple caustic sinks, the next in line soaks up the caustic damage as soon as the first one is filled, then the next and so on. Meaning you only have to eject them once all your equipped are filled. So just assign them to one fire group and all will be ejected at once!

Yeah... I tested these on all caustic missiles about a week ago: - Scout and Cyclops missiles can be safely ignored - Basilisk missile can be usually tanked - Medusa and especially Hydra missiles are still to be respected Also the interceptor clouds are still not to be entered for the fun of it, though accidental encounters with the periphery are no longer such a big deal. As caustic missiles are pretty easy to avoid, I haven't found room for new launchers in most of my nimble mediums. However, they are a must for large ships. Should be pretty obvious for FLD and Mamba as well.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm in the maelstrom and I'm capable of loitering around for quite sometime. I've destroyed several caustic generators, but non of them are dropping any material that I can see and pick up with my limpets.

Awesome review, thanks! Definitely hoping for a hotkey upgrade - I really don't like paging through firegroups to manage non-offensive capabilities. They are fire...groups.... :)

small or medium ships need to run, large ships need to deal insane damage

@@Alecxace or maybe even better yet a new type of scanner that would allow you to sub Target Parts on their ship such as Lightning emitters the one creators caustic missile generators they have it where those things would regenerate with time so you'd constantly have to knock them out and as the more Hearts you kill the weaker they get in the less they can regenerate that would be really cool

@@superscott9780 I would LOVE to sub-target their modules. Would absolutely take out that Lightning emitter + Shield Generator. Damn you Panic Shields!

@@superscott9780 Shields are pretty useful on my corvette. Big ships need shields, mediums can go without. That's my opinion anyway.

How do you get caustic samples, I only have that to get to unlock the sinks .

You get them by using research limpets on the caustic generators. Scan them with a xeno scanner, then sub-target the research area and deploy limpets. Must be within 1km and about 15% heat to deploy. Remain about 2km away to sustain and retrieve. If an interceptor scans the generator while your limpet is docked, it will become hostile.

maybe good for some pilot who new to thargoid fight, for me it's quite useless. i don't find any useful module so far after the narrative changes to be impactful on goid cz unless we outnumber the hydra.

No doubt it's useless if you never get hit and rarely even need to run from caustic missiles. However, it's probably pretty useful for large ships. I think they need some more support. It's good if we get multitude of viable playstyles instead of just one true tactic that everyone must follow.

@@_Lacrouze The tide of war will turn only when Frontier thinks it's time for it to turn. I think it'll probably involve plugging those maelstroms, and the caustic sinks are one tool in the toolbox for that job, though we will need more.
