This is a review of Hyundai Elite i20 Asta (O) petrol 2016 by owner itself. Review contains almost all the answers you need to know about i20 before you buy it. Average/mileage of the car will be updated here after 1st service. As of now Average is same as mentioned in Video. And car was driven 615 km when I did the review.

Hyundai has updated the Asta O variant. The new one is 40,000 INR costly but comes with 6 Airbag, Speed sensing door lock, and Height Adjustable Seatbelt. Looks like value for money still.

nice review gagan i am planing to buy a car but got confused between Baleno,Elite i20 and i20 active. people have complained abt the suspension of baleno and discomfort on rare seats and weak body,so i thought of giving up on baleno could u tell me how is the suspension of elite and can it run nicely on rough and rugged roads,on hills,can i plan out for a long journey once in a month in elite with my family i dont want to waste money on i20 active just for sporty look and ground clearance *i will opt for petrol version* and what is the mileage after first service thanks

rohan verma Baleno will give you mileage but no good comfort. i20 will not give you mileage but all other things are present. Don't worry much about suspension. It might feel bad in very bad roads and on some big speed breakers but one can live with it.

May be, I have driven i20 petrol I feel 2nd gear as a dead gear and below 2000 rpm power is very less though this power is ok for regular commuter I do feel this is the cause for low fuel efficiency and when comes to the point linear power delivery this can be managed in normal driving roads but when comes to hill area and fly over climbings driving during heavy traffic with such engine makes us go weird..

Nice review.....turbo lag generally occurs in the diesel cars, since diesel is an oil and petrol is a spirit, both these fuels have different ways of burning, diesel never burns very easily whereas petrol burns completely without much residue even with a small spark. Diesel car engines uses compression technique to burn the diesel because its very important to compress the diesel to increase its temperature so that it can catch fire, and an equal amount of diesel creates just double the heat and combustion compared to petrol, because first its an oil and secondly its more dense than petrol which is a spirit, this is the reason why even after having the same horsepower in diesel and the petrol car, the diesel car delivers just double the torque and double the mileage than a petrol car model. The only problem with diesel is that after it burns completely it produces a lot of black carbon smoke as a residue which is as heavy as dust and even settles down on the ground, a lot of carbon gets blocked in diesel car exhaust pipe, hose pipes and filters etc, so regular replacement of these components is required in limited intervals. But since petrol is a clean fuel from spirit family, it burns completely without much fuss and solid residue except some gases which are less harmful than diesel residual components.

dipankar singh Turbo lag only happens with engines that are turbocharged and hence the name turbo lag. And also, it doesn't matter if it is either a petrol or a diesel engine. It is the time taken by the turbo to spool up and for that compressed air to travel through the pipes to reach the engine.

Actually.. I too have same car. I got Non A-C 17 in extreme condition (Kerala)(worst and narrow roads) 20 in good road condition (Karnataka, NH 275) 18 in Ghat section 13 - 15 in Bengaluru city traffic. AC : 13 - 14 in a good highway In City 9-10. You dont get more than 10 in City with AC

I kept comparing Volkswagen polo allstar 1.5 TDI with elite i20 1.4 CRDI asta optional for over a period of 5 months.considering after sale services and maintenance , mileage,features, build in quality,well engineered engine, more likely a car that understands you.usually I don't sit and type long comments but after I saw your effort and thought there are people out there searching for the answers for the chaos to choose between the present hot hatchbacks competition.I have to tell that I've driven almost all the cars starting from premier padmini, 118, fiat UNO(which i owned for about 5 years) lancer, ambassador, maruti 800, maruti omni, 407 engine befitted in a jeep! even a police gipsy! and all recent cars and tractors like mahindra, john deer.. I can't remember all the names but yea list goes on including Benz, bmw and Audi for viewers info I'm not a pro driver.. it's just a crazy thing that i do.. talking about the hatchbacks I didn't chose maruti since they are everywhere.. I always find unique vehicles. I've bought a new polo allstar 1.5 TDI over the elite i20 1.4 CRDI asta(O) with 6 airbags. I don't say dimensions and all ...polo doesn't come with DRL's and reverse parking camera and infotainment system as both audio- video type. as people know Hyundai is good for its features I don't condemn on it because nothing comes without efforts !! I suggest people to consider vw polo allstar version feature wise because it offers best armrest which comes in handy and useful unlike of elite i20 as shown in this video. and sporty chrome pedals and rear AC vents. I'm a 5.11.5 ft tall and I should say as I love to ride the car as well as comfortably sit at the backside having snacks cooldrinks and chat.. I've experienced in my car I have best rear space and comfort seating with good leg room and head room my parents just fond of sitting at the back with chill ac they say they don't get tired at all in those long drives. . its good for two passengers and a baby .. I don't know whthr i20 has good space for 3 adults at the rear. polo comes with sporty flat bottom stairing. . I personally feel fiat UNO is most fun car ..polo is a brother like car.. build quality is exceptional and showroom guys said the service is once a year.. I'm happy with my car now... i20 has video compatible AVN which plays video only when hand brake is ON .which is safe while driving.. sometimes I distract only with the 5" touch screen infotainment system of my polo.. so i don't really in need of that i20 AVN .. if at all I want to watch a movie I'll just use a car mobile holder and enjoy! coming to the navigation system again I used a dashboard holder in particular to connect my phone to use Google map services which is far most accurate. engine performance is like........ its a turbo engine !! I can't explain!! put your foot over accelerator pedal you can overtake almost all the cars.. I've hardly seen only bmw or audi benz overtaking me .. high speed stability is superb.. haven't I told about boot space.. yea they are wide and square just as i20.. overall a good package. ....... in the end I felt Hyundai i20 is a better car but vw polo is a best car out there.. just by the way I've put up my words that doesn't mean I'm just inclined towards polo.. hell NO . I suggest people to take a test drive and choose wisely.. note to the reviewer he said Hyundai has fitted drum breaks at the rear. yes because those breaks are sufficient upto 90hp engines.. beyond that disk brakes are used.. and he also pointed rear fog only one in number. . its not the cost cutter instead it is according to the need and better visibility for other car drivers. usually one can observe that single light which glows is exactly at the driver side or in center which gives the clear idea about the car mode (reverse or halt) for other vehicles coming behind especially in ghat sections and raining seasons where both side lights in ON condition makes no sense..

Baleno is a good car with good handling, but as far as safety is concerned i20 is a better option, and if you want both then go for VW POLO, its a one time investment and the engine will go on and on and on till 2-3 lakh kilometers.

Bruh!! My Hyundai Elite i20 Asta 1.2 has a higher body roll while cornering in a speed of 60-70!! And even headlights are very weak!! Fees that its a torch attached to car when we are driving in highway!!

Body roll is something I have never experienced. And headlights are a bit weak but projectors are good headlamps. Adjust height properly and use fog lamps too if you want more. But please keep on low beam always on roads with no dividers.

automatic climate control will work on the temperature basis for example if you set temperature on 20 then automatic climate control do everything to bring the temp down thats why fan speed will increase its same in every luxury sedan

This is something I really can not demonstrate. It needs some big open space and additional safety. Basically, its when you hit brake and Accelerator both at same time, car only acknowledge brake and ignore Accelerator.

Not only the i20 all cars that are traveling in rough road the underbody scratch and dent comes. Thirdly. In my 2017 i20 Active SX petrol shows the same.i will tell u one thing the MID Shown in all cars are not completely accurate. If u don't believe me. Try and check. Mileage is not at all the way u said. Mileage in my i20 Active SX petrol is giving me a mileage of 17kmpl, how u may ask. I drive gradually, reduce the rash accelerating, tyre pressure I keep at 40psi. AC based on weather conditions, still keep it at 24degree. I am getting . I am college professor my daily drive in the car is upto 30kms. Still it's worthwhile for me. Do these instructions as I said to increase mileage.

Not at all Kindly remember one thing. MILEAGE ARE NOT GOVEN BY ANY CAR, IT BEING GENERATED BY THE DRIVER. NOW TIPS TO INCREASEmw MILEAGE 1. TYRE PRESSURE INCREASE TO 38+ (Taxi wala) 2. In Road Surface Decline, put the car in NEUTRAL and let the car roll by itself. 3. Drive in less than 2000rpm 4. No Hard Acceleration 5. AC as required, not lower than 23Degree 6. Check Spark Plugs. I did all this in my 2017 i20 Active SX full option petrol. And believe all the hard work had put the car to get me a mileage of 17kmpl People are crazy and stupid to Drive fast and Harsh. U know it's power to weight ratio is lower ..underpowered , ie u said in another video(negative things about i20)..so contradicting urself..i20 petrol give linear power , that doesnt mean it has enough power to pull around 1060 kg plus passengers in it, I'm an owner of i20 petrol (not an expert about cars), just missed to opt diesel option and took petrol after seeing this justification video(shouldn't have seen it). Ur presentation was so clear nd misguiding about the above fact, unfortunately believed u and took wrong decision, really regreting now (for it's power delivery ,also mileage),all other areas are well kk about vehicle..

Well red is really a good looking color in i20 and I am surprised that your parents like it. Because its only the parent age people who do not like that. Go with red, no need to convince them. There is no advantage or disadvantage. Only advantage I feel in start dust that you can put seats covers of any color. But I think with red you may need to match colors first if they suits in and out.

very good review .. i too own a elite i20 sportz(O) 2015 model the mileage figure you talked about really matches , i would like to know two things one is how much fuel does 1 bar of fuel indicator actually contain i calculated it as 3.75 liter per bar,second thing i really liked the projector set up in your car.. do you have any idea like can it be retrofitted in my elite i20 sportz(o) model from the dealer?

Yes, you can get that done. And 3.75 is not correct. You must have got it from 45/12. But the first bar holds more value. I feel one bar holds somewhere approx 3.50 liters.

Hey Gagan, you have done a wonderful review of the car. Thanks very much. The truth of the matter is i don't own a i20 but a grand i10 and the problems which you face with the turn indicators is the same with Grand I10 as well!!! and as i don't have a avn i do feel for the weirdness of it all. The boot space is also very big in grandi10, no way similar to yours but big enough and thats what led to me to by that car. Also i completely agree about the gradual pick up you have talked about, it's very very true indeed and the almost "pin drop" silence of the motor. The other beautiful thing about the car is the steering wheel. My father, who was a maruti loyalist for a very long time, hahaha, even he believes the hyundai is a much better car..mainly the steering. He describes the whole steering wheel movement as "butter" or " makkhan"...and it's very easy to turn the car!! the other advantage the hyundai cars have over other cars is the way they can absorb the bumps on the road!! My goodness, it's just mind blowing to me, i'am sure others have different experiences but for me it's really amazing!!! and me being from Bengal, it's a added bonus. The only negative thing which i really don't like in cars, generally, is the way you cannot see where the front bonnet ends!!...and as this car of mine is a sportz variant, no height adjust!!! so for me and even my father the tapering down of the bonnet makes life difficult while parking the car and on traffic stops, even though we have got used to it a lot now but still the fact that of breadth and length in tight parking spaces, causes a lot of issues! I talked to the engineers about how the seats are a bit low and they agreed that the hyundai car seats are a bit low compared to other cars!! and i also asked if i could change the driver seat to a height adjustable seat and they said the company doesnt allow that!!...even though having a height of 5'6 is not that bad!! by Indian standards but even so i would love to see where the bonnet ends at times!!.... Ohh and one more thing, i would like to ask you Gagan and that is the fuel capacity....when you go to the petrol pump how much does the car actually take in? i ask because even though my car has a total tank capacity of 44 liters, it seems the petrol pump wala pumped in 53 liters!!! i think we were cheated so just wanted to varify!...but prior to that we got a city mileage of 12 to 14 and highway mileage of 21.5 ....with ac on and off!

Hi bro, Excellent review. Just want to mention about the automatic climate control. If you keep the temperature in 'Lo', the blower will be at maximum speed, I think it's designed to be like that. When you change the temperature (say 17.5 degrees), the blower speed will decrease as soon as the temperature is reduced in the cabin. Do check it out. Please update your average fuel economy. I'm getting around 13-14 in mixed conditions. Thank you :)
